Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I liked the location of the villa because it is close to the hospital. The villa is well maintained, clean and spacious. The breakfasts are plentiful and delicious. The staff is very attentive and has a personal touch. I definitely recommend the place.

Czech RepublicThis is quite logical and expected, because of old wooden floors guests might hear other guests when moving around; might influence sleep of sensitive sleepers. It is more of a suggestion, but having a kettle in the room would make it impeccable.
This villa is unique and cannot be compared to any accommodation we have been to. It’s not a hotel, it’s not an apartment, you are literally staying in an old design villa with other guests. It’s a great and artsy experience that adds to Berlin charm. The service is great. The place is very clean. The breakfast is amazing, I especially appreciated the size of tea cup and kettle :)

GermanyThe mattress was a bit stiff.
Everything, i stayed in a sweet like room. The hotel was full of artwork, and i slept on a metal ancient bed. The owner is a very nice French speaking man and he told me about the artist whom his work fills the place. We chatted for a few minutes before i went on. The whole place is an ancient villa which is well maintained and warm and causy. I certainly would recommend that hotel.

United StatesNot being able to pay with card or through Booking. A note in the description explaining payment methods would help. Travelers from the US must pay wire fees to transact with the local bank. My fee was $45. Using a card would be a lot less expensive for guests or I would add a statement to pay cash. That expense surprised me.
History and the fantastic breakfast.

United KingdomOn Booking.com the room is advertised with tea and coffee maker, and visa cards accepted for payment, but this wasn’t true during our stay. When we knew we would arrive late because of a big train delay we were unable to get a reply to messages via Booking.com, telephone call to number provided, text or email, which was a bit disconcerting. However when we arrived we were able to call another phone number displayed on the door and we were then welcomed kindly. This may have been because the owner was away.
Amazing characterful house and garden. The room had fantastic artworks and comfy old furniture and a huge bathroom. The breakfast was wonderful and served beautifully in a lovely sunny room. The staff were kind and helpful. We loved seeing the red squirrels on the lawn among the sculptures. There’s a friendly restaurant a few minutes’ walk away. Convenient bus into the centre, which runs late into the evening. We would love to come back for another visit.

TurkeyI went to Berlin for a conference at the Freie Universitaet and wanted to stay somewhere quiet and not too far away from the conference venue. Villa Kult was absolutely perfect! It is well connected by public transportation, yet it is away from the noise and crowds of the city. The Villa is simply stunning and the breakfast phenomenal. My work trip felt like a holiday.

We had great time at Villa Kult! The staff is super kind and understanding! Communication was on point. Everything was perfect, extremely clean rooms, calm, comfortable! The location is good, very close to Charité Hospital, close to bus stop to go to the city center. I recommend this place with both hands!

BulgariaThe location is walking distance to Charité, which was my purpose of visit. The neighborhood is very tranquil and pleasant to spend time with good restaurants nearby. United StatesNothing really. The location might not be super convenient for some, but it was perfect for me. Bus stop <100m away (buses every 5-10 minutes take you quickly to Rathaus Steglitz train station). The only other thing I would mention is that this is a huge old house, with wood floors and a staircase. So when people above you move around, you hear it. But I had earplugs, so it didn’t bother me at all.
Totally unique and luxurious property. My room was on the ground floor, and I loved the eclectic mix of European antiques and African art furnishings. Huge bathroom with a wonderful claw foot tub and a shower with great water pressure. Very comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent. But the best part was the host, Renate. What a lovely person. I really enjoyed chatting with her. She is so warm and straightforward and willing to share about the property and her life.

AustraliaA lovingly renovated 19th century villa in the leafy suburb of Lichterfelde. There are artworks all over the gardens and the hotel and every room is individually furnished with beautiful antique furniture and artworks. While the hotel is not situated in the city centre, the excellent public transport services of Berlin make it easy to reach. There is, for example, a direct bus line to/from Berlin Central Station right to a few metres from the hotel. The staff was wonderful and bent over backwards to help me. I arrived in the morning after a long flight from Melbourne and had a seminar at Freie Universitaet at noon. When I mailed this to the hotel, they were so kind to allow me to check in in the morning without any extra cost, so I could take a shower and change clothes before going to my seminar. The hotel offers a large choice of breakfast items and breakfast is prepared fresh individually for each guest.
