Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing. No parking on site but plenty of car parks so not an issue and we had our pride and joys with us.
Staff were excellent. This is a very old traditional building with many original features which is charming. If you want modern contemporary, look elsewhere. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and the food was amazing. Would definitely stay again. Perfect for the B500 and exploring the Forest.

GermanyA few things with wear and tear but nothing bad and everything is so clean that the wear and tear doesn’t matter.
Great location right next to the waterfall entrance (plus a free pass from the hotel). We rented 3 rooms for our family and each had comfortable beds and a great view. The family running the hotel is very kind and accommodating.

GermanyThe breakfast is not good, not varied and overpriced. Some fruits were very old and starting to spoil. It also starts officially at 8:00, which is late for a hotel. Even worse, some days they start even later than the official time. We waited until 8:25 for breakfast on the day of our departure and had to leave the hotel without having breakfast because it was just not there. So basically, we payed for a service that was not provided. Not very professional.
Location is top. The old aesthetic is very beautiful. It looks like a home more than a hotel. The times we interacted with the staff they were friendly.

AustraliaNo heating in the small bathroom, brrrrrrrr… Avoid the café Altar(?sp) on the Main Street advertising the best Black Forest cake in the town. ( Perhaps they should spend less on publicity and more on a decent product !)The chocolate cake bit was dry and the cherry part overly alcoholic-tasting, but go ahead if you prefer your cake this way!
Hotel Pfaff is a lovely reasonably-priced hotel with helpful staff in an enviable position opposite the Triberg waterfall entrance. Checkin was easy and Wifi worked well. Room 12 was spacious and my bed was very comfortable. Access to tea and coffee making facilities in the common area was appreciated, and the Gulasch soup I ate for lunch in their restaurant was the best I’ve ever tasted! Don’t forget to ask for your free KONUS card for complimentary waterfall access and travel in the region the following day. Take care: buses to the station are infrequent so I had to take a taxi to avoid missing my morning train. Visit the museum opposite for a unique free experience: it’s fascinating.

Amazing boutique like Hotel with the BEST possible location. I think I stayed in room one with a gorgeous view of the entrance to Triberg falls. Kept my window open and at night, it was so quiet and you could hear the water. I didn’t have to pay extra for this natural sound soother, LOL!! Parking very close by! Family run and they put so much hard work and love into every aspect. Breakfast was so good and right next door to my room.

United StatesRooms are quite small, and no air conditioning, but opening the balcony door or window allows for a cool breeze and the sounds of the waterfall. If the restaurant took cash, we would have eaten there more than once.
The location is perfect. The iconic hotel is directly across the street from the trail up to the waterfall and from the museum. There are lots of tourist shops right outside the door. There are postcards which include a photo of this lovely hotel. There is a good restaurant below (cash payment), patios with great views, and at least one additional living room for guests to gather indoors. You can hear the music from other restaurants in the evening when you open your window. The staff is very nice and helpful. The breakfast was very good with hard-boiled eggs, sliced meats & cheeses, yogurts, great marmalade and breads. Upon checking in, we were given a card for free admission to the waterfall and museum.
