Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThere were no shared/social spaces so we didn’t meet anyone else staying in the hostel. The WiFi was also terrible - not worth using because it was so patchy.
We had a private room which was spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff on reception were friendly and the location was brilliant. Overall great value for money!

United StatesThe room was mostly clean, but the headboard of the bed was very dusty. The hand soap pump didn’t work. Only one towel provided for a 3-day stay. Only one packet of instant coffee provided for a 3-day stay.
This is a good location and easy to find. It’s inexpensive and perfect for a budget traveler. The bed was very comfortable. The shared bathrooms were very clean, and all of the other guests were considerate.

The location of the place is the best, next to the city center. This is a modest place. As long as you go in knowing that and that for the price you need to match your expectations. I appreciated the small refrigerator in the room. Easy to check in and check out. Go visit the free BMW World center & paid BMW museum. I would rebook.

The place was clean and so well located for easy access to the train station. Literally 20m from the stairs down to the station. There is a lift but still had to walk half a flight of stairs. They checked me in early, which was appreciated.

ItalyI must say that we were all a bit disappointed with the staff. One lady in the afternoon who did not speak any English. A man in the evening who complained at us ringing at the door of the building at 9PM or 11PM- He only gave us one key but we were four. Also There was no breakfast included, not even a bottle of water, a juice. It was agreed on at the beginning, but still it might be better having something.

It's what one would expect of a handy pension with shared facilities, which weren't up to the same standard of the room. The room itself was good and not too small. The location is excellent for transport.

AustraliaBathroom and toilet shared, AND together - not separate... shower had almost no water running - wouldn't call it a shower to be honest. Hot water took 5 mins to get there. Really noisy intersection, and very dirty street with questionable people hanging around. Rubbish everywhere, excrement on street and entry, many overflowing bins, and so on.
Room size was good. Location excellent, really close to everything. Great for a quick stop over with limited time. Many public transport options.
