Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

SerbiaStaff don't speak English. We arrived about 6pm and had to to call the host and it took them time to find english speaking person to gve us instructions how to find a key and enter. That costs us because roaming rate . The booklet in the room had 5 pages of information but in German They didn't change or offered to change the towells or clean the room. The garbage sorting facility is a mess and all posts were in german. The room price is higher if you pay with credit card which was not said in small print in advance.
The breakfast was very good. Good place for up to 3 nights stay.

Well located, very basic accommodation, perfect for our short term stay close to Rostock. The room has been spacious, the bathroom as well. For our group of members of a sport team very okay to spend one weekend here. Price is unbeatable.

Arrived and nowhere to check in. Was not given details. Tried calling a few times and no answer. Ended up sending message and after some time of waiting outside i was given the code and instructions to get my keys. This is too frustrating and not very good management. However the accommodation was quite good and comfortable.

United StatesBeds had older mattresses and were quite soft. Breakfast was included and we were looking forward to a great pension continental breakfast. But it did not start until 0800 and we had to be at our ferry by 0830 so we had to leave before the dining room opened. In the other places we’ve stayed they usually start at 7 or 730. My fault for not asking first and assuming.
Very clean, free parking, and close to ferry from Germany to Denmark.

Czech RepublicAppalling and terrible personal experience with guesthouse owner Mrs. Jane Hammer. An outrageous 5%!!! surcharge is required for paying by VISA card, without any prior notice. After the link to the reservation via Booking.com and the guaranteed price for the accommodation, the cancellation of the accommodation is threatened. The owner's argument is: the owner's own rules. After inquiring about the nearest ATM to withdraw cash, no advice is deliberately provided, and in addition, cash is required to be brought within 10 minutes! No Wi-Fi access. Neither the reception staff nor the owner of the guesthouse bothers to answer the repeated greeting of the guests upon arrival at the reception. But that is perhaps only a small thing, compared to how they treat their customers at the Elmenshorst Pension.

NorwayNobody speaks English. The owner tried to do a phone check-in in German, while we don’t speak German. We had to wait for the owner to find somebody who spoke English over the phone. All signs, instructions and communication is in German (for instance info about kitchen, check out or payment) There is no breakfast to go if you have to catch the ferry, we were told the neighbour’s bakery opens at 6, but it opens at 6:30.
