We asked for three separate beds but when we arrived the two doubles had been made up as 4 'singles', i.e. 2 single mattresses, sheets, duvet & pillows in one double frame. We solved this by carrying one of the made-up 'singles' into the lounge and placing it on the sofa bed. We were unsure how to access the hotel when we arrived as the restaurant was closed. We assumed the adjacent door was an entrance but it too was locked. We tried the intercom and a lady answered who gave us the information for gaining entry. Not relevant to the hotel - but motorcyclists beware that motorcycles are banned on the road up to the cable car at the weekends.

Breakfast very good and served by a lady who was very polite and helpful. The Family Suite has 2 good double bedrooms and a spacious lounge as well as its own en-suite. There is some limited off-street parking available which worked well for our three motorcycles. Hotel is within very easy walking distance of 2 tram stops for quick access into Freiburg. Make sure you buy a ticket on the tram. There is also easy access to the Schauinslandbahn cable car. The tram ticket to Gunterstal is also valid for the No. 21 bus that takes to you to the lower cable car station.

We arrived on a Thursday, the day their restaurant is always closed for evening dinner and the key of the hotel had to be collected from a box. I was informed of this 2 days before arrival. Since we have young kids and were travelling through, we had been planning on possibly eating in the hotel so it would have been great to have had this information at the time I booked the room.

Breakfast was great! Nice setting and an extensive choice good food served at our table. The staf was really friendly. The room is very big. It's like an entire apartment.

Bedroom a little dated, needs a little TLC. Squeaky flooring. Mattresses soft so difficult to sleep soundly.

My room and most of the rooms are on the street side and thus you can hear the traffic. The curtains are thin and the light comes in the room early in the morning.

The location is nice although outside of Freiburg. Very well connected with a tram that runs often. Excellent breakfast. Nice staff serving breakfast. Clean.

The only thing was that they have expected our three grown up kids to sleep together in one bed, however when we have asked for extra linens, we got them immediately. The only thing was that on windows in the living room were sleeping sofa was and in other bedroom were no curtains and thus the light woke us up early in the morning.

We have stayed only one night as we travelled through Freiburg during our holidays. We have booked the family room with two bedrooms. Unfortunately the extra bed for our third child was not prepared but the hotel staff has brought us extra blankets and linens even though we came quite late in the night. The room was clean and newly equiped with a modern charm. Breakfast was served on a table which has suprised us a bit, however the restaurant staff has filled everything we needed and was very attentive. The breakfast was rich and fresh. Really good start in the morning. We can definitely recommend this hotel!

There was no reception, instead they had a closed door. We rang the door, after some time someone answered asked for a name and what room we had. Then a couple of minutes of nothing (awkwardly so) , I guess after 5 minutes I rang the doorbel again to asked what the problem was, she was searching for someone to open the door. I think this was a bad start, which I think is a pity cause other than that it was nice. Also: the option for a harder pillow would have been nice. Maybe put it in the closet in the hallway

Trash pickup at 630am was not pleasant but not the hotels fault. Breakfast was a bit too much. We were sat at a table with breads and butter. We only needed one piece and not sure what happened to the rest of the food? Then meats and cheeses arrived without asking. Then 2 eggs 🥚. Neither of us eat that much food. There were 3 other tables like this. I hate to think this food all went to waste. A buffet bar or made to order may have been better?

Staff were very friendly. Food was excellent. The rooms were clean. Location was perfect at start of Black Forest and only 10 minutes by tram to the main town, Freiberg Im Bresgau. Overall, a fantastic stay. We would definitely recommend.

The building is actually older than expected and so the rooms and the furniture, at least so was our room. There is little sound insulation between the rooms and noise from other guests was an issue overnight.

We ended up booking this hotel based on a review about how exquisite the breakfast was, when it really was nothing that a person alone can’t prepare, there were no pancakes, no waffles and only boiled egg. The coffee/cappuccino was ok. The room was old and we could hear everything from the stairs and the street.

The ladies that served us at breakfast were very nice and tried really hard to make us feel good. The location was nice, the tram passes right under the hotel. The bathroom was nice.

A little out the center but it is a nice part of the town. Tram takes you in the city in 10 mins so that’s great. from the room I did not hear the tram at all and we slept street side! I especially liked the restaurant. good food, cosy atmosphere. Bathoomroom was small, but the shower was good. beds were also comfortable! staff was personal and friendly
