Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe mattress was way too soft, which was quite uncomfortable. Also, there was no air conditioning, which made the room quite hot, although opening the window and door was okay.
It's a lovely place in a dreamy cloister with nature all around. The staff is very friendly, flexible, and accommodating—lots to discover and roam around.

GermanyThere was nothing not to like. Just a few tips: Because it‘s a monastery naturally there is limited infrastructure, i.e. only one restaurant adjacent that can fill up a bit, especially if there is a concert on the monastery grounds, so making a reservation helps avoid wait times. Otherwise, the monastery offers a small cold dinner if needed.
We had a room in the new guest house, which was spacious, modern and quiet with floor-to-ceiling windows on one side and tasteful design everywhere. The bathroom was also spacious. Breakfast was a delicious continental buffet with great local products like the honeycombs and marmalade. The herbs in the scrambled eggs were from the monastery‘s own garden. Coffee machine was a little non-reactive and outdated but the beans used were delicious. We also liked that tables were pre-assigned. Before our arrival, the staff kindly called us to confirm our arrival time. All in all, wonderful stay and would come back to Kloster Steinfeld!

GermanyStayed over three days (including a weekend retreat) in both a simpler room and the new guestbouse. Both rooms were very reasonable for their respective prices. The rooms were spotless, quiet, and well insulated so I was able to get a good, warm nights' sleep. Excellent customer service from all reception and kitchen staff. High quality, tasty breakfast and (mandatory for retreat paticipants) lunch/dinner offerings. The buildings and grounds are well maintained, beautiful and very fitting for a relaxing break. Lovely cafe with many food and non-food items. Easy walk to next village and Greek restaurant across the road are also very convenient.

BelgiumThe opening hours of the swimming pool could be indicated more clearly. But that's a minor detail.
Peaceful and silent environment, just what I was looking for. Couldn't hear a pin drop during the night, despite many people we're staying there at the time, which happened to be a holiday period.

United KingdomThe breakfast was more than adequate and very satisfactory; however we booked in for evening meal and there were only to choice of main course and fruit. We arrived around the mid period of serving and unfortunately there was only one choice (spaghetti) available. I would probably recommend taking an evening meal at the local inn situated opposite the entrance gates.
Our room was absolutely beautiful in this peaceful and quiet location. Exceptionally clean and welcoming staff. We have never stayed in a working "Kloster" before and the experience was most memorable. The grounds were beautiful and of course, there was a most peaceful atmosphere in the adjoining church. We wished we could have stayed longer. Part of the building is used as a school and it was a joy to see such well behaved children arriving for lessons.

NetherlandsThe staff at the reception didn't speak English and all information on signs was written in German. It made communication a bit more complicated, but staff was friendly and helpful.
We stayed for one night in the 'comfort' rooms. They are spacious, modern and clean. The old monastary buildings are wonderful, and the grounds are serene. As a whole it was a very calm and relaxing visit in a unique setting.

NetherlandsThe setting of the monastry is stunning, in the middle of nature. Guests rooms are in the annex of the monastry and are very well equiped. Sumptuous breakfast is served in the dining room. Staff was kind enough to let us have breakfast in our room, so that we would not have to leave our two dogs alone.

NetherlandsThe room was basic, for one, peacefull and humbling. Nothing to complain of. It is still a monastery. Location brilliant. Having breafast in a monastery hall was both wonderfull and a great experience. A little issue with language barrier, but it was expected. If you enjoy simple things don' t miss it.
