When I arrived they gave me the number of my room but not my bed so I took one of the beds that were free. The breakfast is good if you want to eat salty food, however there is not so much choice for marmelade/Nutella/honey Not so much toilets/showers

In the summer, when the roommates open the window, nearby traffic noises (trains, cars) can be heard. Of course, the hostel can't do that.

Excellent, plentiful, varied breakfast (baked goods, meats, cheeses, salads, fruits, cocoa, coffee, juice). Pretty nice receptionist. Clean, well-equipped room (with a cupboard that can be locked with a 2-euro coin). In case of early arrival, the package can be stored in a closed room. Excellent central location with good public transport. A wonderful view from the terrace of the hostel.

While the location is great, you do have to walk some stairs and the entrance can be indicated more clearly. I wouldn’t expect a youth hostel, there are people all ages included kids - it is not the ideal hostel for making friends. Take into the additional charge if you don’t have the special pass - which I was told after I paid I actually didn’t have to pay as I am interrailing. Moreover, the beds do not have that much privacy. I also booked a room with it’s own bathroom but instead there was a general one shared with the whole hallway, they were busy sometimes but nice and clean. There was no fresh air in the room nor AC, so take that into account.

In general the hostel has a lot to offer. The location is great - beautiful view over the city that made me want to simply stay at the hostel restaurant/bar instead of going into the city. It is also just above the public transport station. There is pretty nice food at the hostel and the staff is very nice and available 24/7.

I didn't particularly appreciate that the bathroom inside the room was too small for six guests. Also, I had to purchase a soap bar to wash my hands. A handwash was not provided in the bathroom or the wash basin inside the room. A bottle of liquid handwash is also much more eco-friendly.

The cleanliness, staff, and breakfast were very good. The location is wonderful; one can look at the see from the room windows.

The place could really use a water fountain somewhere in the common areas so that we don’t have to refill water bottles with bathroom water. There was also one staff member, who was exceptionally rude with me no matter how kind I tried to be with her, and I actually avoided her because of how awful she made me feel about having reasonable questions.

This hostel is so *perfectly* located - and I can’t stress that enough! It’s central to a lot of really great areas. The U&S Bahn lines take you most places very easily, and there’s plenty to explore on foot too. For those concerned about safety, this area felt very safe (especially in comparison to other neighborhoods that hostels are in in the city). Breakfast provided was a huge plus. The view from the hostel of the Norderelbe is absolutely breathtaking. Rooms were cozy, beds were comfortable, everyone seemed very respectful and kind. Provides you with everything you need. Staff was overall very friendly and helpful.

It was very clean, however, there were limited toilets and showers on our floor. We were self catered in the evening, and the kitchen was very small and not well equipped.

Breakfast was very good, staff really friendly. The location was excellent for all the activities we did, and outside seating in the summer was appreciated.

If you’re biking around and have a bike, this is the best place to stay in Hamburg. The hill leading to the hotel offers a great biking experience. However, if you are a photographer or need to carry a lot of gear, it may not be ideal due to the numerous stairs you have to climb.

Lots of school groups making a lot of noise. One night there was a DJ in the social area and it was really loud and irritating if you wanted a quiet night in. Strange rule about not allowing alcohol in the hostel yet they sell it at the bar. No soap in the dorm bathroom was a bit dirty especially when you’re sharing a room. No space to make your own food (or at least not obvious).

The lockers in the room are large and the breakfast and evening meal was fantastic. The WiFi was free and good. Location was great and easy access from the train station. Receptionists were really friendly!

The extra costs charged for towels, International Hostelling association and based on your age makes the hostel less competitive than other options in Hamburg.

The location just on top of the Landungsbrücke allows for superb views of the Elbe river even from inside the hostel. Common areas are spacious and one will not have to dispute space with others. The family room on the ground floor is a great space to work or play a game.

Just a small suggestion - it would be a great idea to put a sign for those of us who take the stairs all the way up from the train station. It was a bit confusing to find the outside entrance :)

It was really nice, definitely exceeding my expectations. While the room was basic, the restrooms were good, and the food hall and bar were both above expectation! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is absoultely stunning!

There was a super noisy girl group next door and they were knocking our door at night, running and laughing. The location is right next to a park so there were some drunk guys shouting and screaming at night. It's not a thing that the hostel can interfere, so it was a bit bad luck of us :)

The location was great, it was easy to walk everywhere. Beds were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was above avarage. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

Pillows could use an update. Papertowels in the toilet would be nice so you dont have to bring your own towel everytime. Eyemask and earplugs are needed, not really a complaint rather than a notice.

Staff was very friendly and helpful and the location was great. Good breakfast included. Rooms had small tables to put things on next to the bed and the lockers were big. Bed was comfortable enough.
