Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe staff were lovely and friendly, and made me feel very welcome! The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room was a good size with a lovely en suite and balcony. I would definitely stay again if I come to Oberhausen in the future.

United StatesI wish there were more outlets available in the room. Lots of lamps plugged in that were not necessary.
Much closer to the train station then expected! Staff was so helpful to upgrade our room, provide an earlier check-in than expected, AND store our baggage. The restaurant was delicious and very agreeably priced. Stayed with my brother and sister for the Taylor Swift concert at Veltins arena- perfect 30 minutes to venue.

NetherlandsWi-fi wasn't great. Bathroom smelled a little funky but was clean otherwise. The walls seemed a bit thin but we had polite neighbours thankfully.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean, lovely decorated and the bed was comfortable. It was about a 10 min walk from the station with easy access to buses, convenient location. Sadly didn't have time to eat at the restaurant downstairs but it looked cute and inviting. Very worth the price!

United StatesThe bed was a standard double, to which we are accustomed. The duvet just fit over the top, so there was a tug of war over the covers between my husband and me.
This is not your standard, could have been anywhere hotel. If you're looking for a familiar Holiday Inn, look elsewhere. The owners have furnished it with eccentric pieces in bright colors. Art is everywhere. They took care to make sure we were comfortable. There was a big birthday party in the restaurant below the evening we checked in, so they put us in a room that would not have been exposed to the noise. They offered us a larger room the next two nights, but we were tucked in and happy where we were. The restaurant has excellent Polish food, too!

United KingdomNothing.
Breakfast was simple but fresh and diversified, including meat, cheese, veggies and fruits. Value for money - exceptional (7EUR)! Despite the presence of the big and busy restaurant (Friday night), the room was quiet, and we slept very well. The bohemian style of the place and atmosphere is very unique.

IrelandVery limited on available electrical outlets, which might be a problem if you have a lot of devices to charge. I carry a power strip with me for such situations, but would have been out of luck on charging all my electronics if I didn't have that.
Modest, but very nice little hotel in the middle of Oberhausen. Every room from the restaurant to the individual rooms is artistically decorated. The rooms are quite comfy, and in some rooms, one of the beds will be larger than a single, ranging up to a small double, but you'll have to inquire with the owner as to availability. Each room has a large, modern bathroom, and just outside, a shared area with a fridge, coffee maker, etc. Breakfast was pretty good, being basically a German-style continental breakfast with bread rolls, cold cuts, cheese, cucumbers, etc along with orange juice and coffee. As a restaurant, the Polish dishes they have for dinner are very good. Maria, the lady who runs the hotel and restaurant is very nice, and good about accomodating guest's needs and gave me very good local tips. Note that when you check in, it's through the restaurant or bar, and they'll take you over to the hotel portion (separate entrance) once you've signed in.

GermanyI liked the rooms, the hosts and the location, what I did not like was that the Hotel wifi password was not shared and had to rely on the city free wifi which at times was really faulty... Next guest make sure to also share the wifi password of the hotel because people like me use it for squiring information and have a better experience over all ..
