Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe floors have moquette whose smell was really bad. The problem is that that smell was all over the room when windows were closed. Generally I like to have the signature of sanitized bathrooms and wc, and in Marriott hotels I have often found. In this location I didn't find it
Sauna included, coffee in the lobby, kind staff, clean room

It was lovely and clean. Comfortable beds and a lovely deep bath. The pool was quiet, the sauna was great and we used the fitness room weights. The breakfast was good. Plenty to eat and a wide variety of hot and cold to choose from.

DenmarkIt's a little walk to the inner city (approx 30-40 minutes) but a nice enough walk, especially if you cross the river.
Overall very nice hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfy rooms, good breakfast, free coffee to go. Overlooking the river. Easy walk to/from the train station.

South AfricaNothing really but wouldn't recommend the restaurant.
Elegant, clean and comfortable rooms. Also really quiet. The hotel is on the river and even though it's not in old town, old town was still really easy to reach either through a nice walk along the river or via public transport.

SwitzerlandWhat was not good is that I was asked to pay 50 euros per night as a deposit for optional things without any choice on it. I was informed that it will be returned at my checkout but the fact is that it took 5 days to come back to my account. Because I use a prepaid card for my euro spendings with a planned budget, this exceeded the plan budget. Because of this policy of the hotel, I got a payment refused and a 3 euros charge consequently. It is the first time I see a hotel blocking such a big sum "in case you want to use the bar". I do not drink alcohol so this makes no sense to me. Due to this I cannot give this hotel more than 7 stars.
The hotel was good in all aspects except what I will describe below. The staff was also very helpful.

SwitzerlandI rate it as a moderate value for money only because of tiredness vs higher price than other hotels in the city. I still would go back if on a business trip. but for a personal trip to the city I would probably choose some other place closer to city center/old town.
The room and facilities were clean but suffered from being a bit outdated. I picked this hotel over others because of its proximity to the train station for connection to the airport and because of the gym/pool. The convenience of public transport was great, and other parts of the city were easily reachable on foot (~20-30 min) or public transport. The gym is well-equipped with lockers, towels, and a sauna. The pool was a decent size but heated to a high temperature, so I didn't do my usual swim routine. The food was excellent (I tried the restaurant and the room service), but quite expensive, compared to finding restaurants in town. Lots of tourist groups in the hotel, so services are tailored to them. The hotel was convenient for me as a business traveller, having stayed there for four days, althorugh I was missing some comfort of teh mini bar and business center. I wish I had access to the business center and lounge, but that is reserved for Marriott high-end members.

United KingdomRestaurant is quite overpriced unfortunately, we also had a miscommunication on christmas eve when we went to the restaurant for dinner and there was only a buffet available. We were charged €60 each, we contested this as there was no pricing on the menu and this is a lot, the manager took off our drinks. However, still €120 for 2 is very expensive and there are plenty of other restaurants open in Heidelberg old town. Additionally, on check in you are charged €50 per night as a tab and this is not optional. This wasn't communicated to us before arrival so was a surprise.
Lovely facilities, spacious room, nice sized gym and pool and quite close to Heidelberg old town, 25 min walk or can get a tram, tram stop is down the road. Our room was clean and you have the essentials in your room. Beautiful christmas decorations too! Bar is great too.

GermanyAlthough I made the reservation via Booking and paid in advance they still asked me to pay 50 € as guarantee at the checkin. I only stayed for one night. My reservation also included the breakfast. When you go to the Dining room where the breakfast is being served the require you to write the name, and room number on a piece o paper. On the bottom there is a line where you can add a tipp... in advance.... and also without receiving any service through the whole Breakfast. I think these practices are a little bit too old vor 2023. You need to improve your level a little bit.
The location is good, meaning that you can reach the city center easily by walking. The breakfast was standard, tasty. The Staff were friendly. Hotel also has a Gym (didn't use it).
