Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SloveniaOur room didn't come with a refrigerator - some people still like their drinks chilled. These is this one thing though - because this hotel manages to do such a good job, you start to think about all the accommodations that can't do theirs.
This hotel really is a rare find. The room is spacious and comes with real wooden furniture and not the usual generic cardboard type. The food at breakfast tastes great - they even have real cheese instead of the usual plastic you get served at hotels. They don't have a coffee machine at breakfast - the waiter makes it for you. You can park in front of the hotel without an app. You don't have to look at a screen for relaxation you can take a walk through the hotel's garden or through a horse ranch right next door. Let's just say that we had a great stay at this hotel.

MaltaAT THE LAST MINUTE THEY SENT AN EMAIL SAYING THAT THE RESTAURANT WOULD BE CLOSED ALL WEEK, IT WAS A PITTY AS WE HAD BOOKED HERE WITH THE INTENTION OF HAVING THE RESTUARANT WITH THE HOTEL SO THAT IN THE EVENING WE DIDN'T HAVE TO TRAVEL WITH THE CAR.
GOOD BREAKFAST A LITTLE BIT FAR AWAY FROM SEATING AREA. HAD TO CROSS THE RECEPTION TO GO TO THE BREAKFAST ROOM. ROOMS WERE CLEAN. SHOWER DOOR DID NOT CLOSE COMPLEATLY SO ENDED WITH SOME OF THE WATER GOING OUT ON THE FLOOR.

United KingdomThe restaurant manager was a little abrupt, boarding on rude, all other staff were cheerful and extremely helpful. The hotel is in the countryside so you will need a car or be prepared to order a taxi. This wasn't a problem for us but if you are not prepared for this it will be a surprise.
A beautiful hotel, excellent facilities, breakfast was amazing! We also had an evening meal on one evening and I would highly recommend eating at the hotel. The beds and pillows were great, I never usually sleep in hotels but my three nights here were very restful!

RussiaThe rooms are quite small, two mattresses instead of a single one in a lux apartment on a quiet average bad looks strange.
Both breafast and dinner were delicious, the style of the whole hotel is also very interesting

LuxembourgOur room did not have direct access with a lift so if you have mobility issues it is better to specify that you want to be in the part of the hotel with the lift.
Good selection of food for breakfast, very attentive staff. We also ate lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurant - both excellent. The hotel has also a lovely courtyard and a garden so plenty of space to enjoy it. The surrounding of the hotel is very quiet and lovely. We loved its convenient location 15min drive to Munich Messe.

AustraliaBeside the good impression, there were a couple of small things that could have been done better (this is complaining on a high level and maybe unfair considering the price and value here): 1. When we arrived, we were left unattended at the lobby for quite some time, although 3 people from the staff passed by. No one asked us if they could help us in any way and we had to ring the bell multiple times until someone came to check us in. 2. After our longer wait at the check in, the man who checked us finally in was not overly friendly. Not a big deal but a smile or some sign that we are not a burden would have been great. 3. Our room was at the very far end of the building and we were travelling with loads of luggage. There was no elevator in that building or help from the hotel to get our luggage (3 huge suitcases and 3 small) to the room which was a real hassle. 4. We arrived on Sunday night and were hoping for dinner at the Hotel restaurant which was unfortunately closed, so that we had to check for alternatives. Not a big deal but something we would recommend checking if you are short on time. 5. We were 3 people in the room and when there are 3 people, I also expect 3 towels, 3 bathrobes, 3 bottles of water and cups etc. and not just 2. 6. The description at the breakfast buffet was here and there missing and it was not always clear what the individual items were. Overall, we would still recommend staying at the Stangl as it is a really beautiful place to stay.
This is an absolute gem when you are looking for a nice and romantic weekend hideaway not far from Munich or (as we did) a goodnight sleep before boarding a flight at Munich airport. The value for money is fantastic. The Stangl has a very unique charme and lovely atmosphere due to the combination of new and old materials and interior which has been done very nicely (not ruined like in other hotels). The beergarden must be very lovely to have a sundowner or to enjoy typical Bavarian food - unfortunately it was closed when we were there. The room was spacious and well appointed. Free water at the room which is always a plus. The breakfast comes with lots of variety to choose from. We really enjoyed our short stay.

The staff is excellent, very helpful and very easy access to bus and train (40 min by train & bus from Munich center). Great breakfast and very cozy location. I very much enjoyed my stay!

NetherlandsThe room was very spacious, it fit our family of three perfectly. We traveled with a baby (3 months), this was a layover on our roadtrip, and the room was ready, crib was already set up and we still had lots of free space left for all of our baby stuff. Breakfast was amazing, they had everything from bircher muesli to 8(!) types of fresh fruits, breakfast rolls etc. Would def recommend!

We consider that the accommodation had been underrated. The room that was allocated to us in the Herrenhaus was wonderful. It had recently renovated and the beds were very comfortable.. The owner and staff were very friendly. The food was excellent and not very expensive. Our dinner was particularly delicious. We will definitely return to the Gasthof.
