Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe price for what you get is very fair. The bathroom was quite small, but the room itself is not very large. However, we were often out and about in the city or hiking, so this did not really bother us. The other thing that you notice is that the walls are very thin. We could hear other guests coming and going up the stairs or in the hallway opening the doors in to their room. Overall though the hotel and Gästehaus were very quiet and we had no issues because of the thin walls.
Our train coming into Cochem was delayed, so we ended up getting into the train station after the 18.00 check-in time. The owner called us while we were in the train and offered to pick us up at the train station. Overall the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good. The breakfast is offered at Gute Quelle's Restaurant, which is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and Gästehaus. The staff recommended ferry options and different restaurants in the area and remembered our breakfast orders in the morning, which felt very welcoming and personable. The room is also clean and the cleaning staff comes in to clean the room every day. The location is less than a 10 minute walk into the city and our room faced towards the river and Cochem castle, so we had a gorgeous view of the city.

United StatesWe didn’t like that we had to walk so far to the place where we have to eat breakfast and the bathroom was to small. The breakfast wasn’t that good also. And, like I said before, this place is more for younger folks.
I like that is very close to the downtown area and to the Cochem castle. Also that is was a nice view of the town and the castle. We would recommend to people that are yonnger than us, we are to old to walk up and down.

A nice hotel on the other side of the village, so quiet and not far. The sun from 10h to end of the day. The town just until the afternoon. We had a quiet room an the back, very clean. The breakfast was good with fresh products. At the room we have a little refigerator to our proposal. We have a parking spot near the hotel. Everything we needed was there. They only offer breakfast. Close to Klobenz +- 38 km.

United KingdomA very nice B&B in a great location, very easy to find as it's just off the main road. The town centre is just a stroll away down the waterfront and over the bridge. I arrived via motorcycle and the staff were exceptionally kind, allowing me to park on the premises. They do have a car park around the back of the hotel with a few spaces but it is limited. They explained everything well, English was spoken (appreciate it!) but if you can speak German that helps. It's a beautiful building inside and out, lots of charm. If you're on the top floor (I was) you do need to climb some stairs but it's nothing too bad. The room was small but perfectly fine for one or two nights. I stayed for one, but could have happily done two nights there. The bathroom was a bit on the small side, but very clean and everything in working order. Unsure if the larger rooms have a bigger bathroom, I booked a single room. Breakfast was fabulous, very much a continental breakfast to set you up for the day, I enjoyed that and appreciated the kind service! I'd recommend this place if you're visiting Cochem, you're sure to have great service and a comfy night.

NetherlandsBooked in hotel Gute Quelle Cochem but without any information before, nor from Booking.com nor from Gute Quelle, we had to go to an other guesthouse 300 m upon the hill and in the house climbing two stairs carrying all our motorcyclestuff. Very simpel guesthouse, no wifi, nothing to drink or eat. Hotel Gute Quelle is Hotel Garni wich meant no service after breakfast during the rest of the day (no coffee or tea, no drinks, no snacks). This was not mentioned on your site! Besides that the website of Gute Quelle shows a picture of a terrace, one of the reasons we decided to go to this hotel. In practice there was no terrace at all, just a couple of chairs and a table.
The beauty of the city of Cochem, the view on the Castle, the good restaurants en the friendly people in the restaurants. We had 4 magnificant days driving our motorcycles through the hills around Cochem.
