Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyA couple of adolescentss had a heated and alcohol-fueled debate at around 4 or 5am right in front of our door. But of course you can have that everywhere at it's not really the accommodation's responsibility. Generally, I would expect the area to be mostly quiet.
The holiday house is located right at the center of the beautiful old town, literally steps away from the Stolberg castle. The accommodation is not overly comfortable (people who have trouble walking will dread the four floors), but the many small rooms are cozy and you'll find everything you need for a convenient down-to-earth holiday (oven, stove, coffee, kettle, fridge, TV, wifi, etc.). There are very inviting restaurants close in the area, but for your everyday needs you'll find supermarkets close-by (there is a very big Kaufland about ten minutes away by foot and there is an Aldi not too far away either). The bus stops pretty much right in front of the accommodation (next to the tourist information center) and there are numerous train stations in walking distance. We very much enjoyed our stay and would like to come back.

United KingdomIt would have been nice to have a little welcome pack to enable us to make a drink when we first arrived after a long journey especially as it was evening and we were unsure of where to get groceries. While the house is nice because of its original features it wouldn't be suitable for very young children or older people that aren't good on their feet. The layout means that everyone can hear each other on an evening and in the mornings so there is very little privacy if staying as a group. This would however have been lovely if travelling just as a couple.
Quick and easy check in and shown the house thoroughly. The location was fantastic, very picturesque and easy to find. Not fair to walk to the town centre, bakeries and restaurants near by. Lovely walk round the castle and train station not far away. Good value for money.

LuxembourgThe stairs - one room per floor meant that there are *many* flights of stairs every day. But, this is to be expected in such a property.
A fantastic location, in the heart of the old town, opposite the castle. The property is very old, with many period features (thick walls, wooden beams, etc.). The house is well equipped, with sufficient crockery, covers, etc. The house is also well insulated, which cuts down on noise with the windows shut.

NetherlandsThe apartment consists of five small floors (bathroom in basement, kitchen on the ground floor, living room on the first floor, bedrooms on second and third floor) connected by really steep stairs, which is not ideal for families with young kids.
The views and the location are amazing, right next to Burg Stolberg with a great view of it from the bedrooms. The host was friendly and helpful as well, and it's convenient that it's right next to Bistro By George.

United StatesWe loved it!
This is an interesting place. Old building with stairs going from the bathroom, up to the kitchen, to the bedroom, to the 2nd bedroom. The kids liked the unique experience. Out the front door, it is about 6 steps to the restaurant that was really fantastic, for schnitzel and pizza. (pick up your key here). There is the castle right next to these buildings that we walked around at night. The downtown was hit by a flood 4 years ago so some of the buildings are still be repaired but it is a nice walk around the town/river/castle. About 5 minutes is a kaufland where you can park for free. Quiet town but next to Aachen. We also went to Volkenburg and back in a day.
