Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo AC, bathrooms need some love (i.e. rusty faucets)
Great location as it's walking distance to the Old Town. However, i found this hotel a bit worn out - it definitely needs a bit of renovation. The rooms were clean, but it just felt a bit too 80's - especially for a work trip.

CanadaThere was no elevator. The stairwell smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.
Location was the best. We were 100m from the train station and not much further from the cathedral, the river and restaurants.

United StatesI apologize for the negative review, but I don't have much good to say about this hotel. When I got there, there was no one working at the front desk, and I had to call the number for someone to bring the key, which I waited for 15 or 20 minutes. And my room was at the other end of the hotel, but I wasn't able to walk through the lobby to get to my room because of the locked doors. One day, I was trying to exit the hotel through the usual entrance/exit via the lobby, but again, the doors were closed. That is a fire hazard! What if the building was on fire?! I had to exit through another way. The room had a shared balcony with another room, and when I went on the balcony, I saw empty beer cans and cigarette butts. The entire balcony was not clean. The poor, young lady at the front desk was also cleaning rooms, doing two jobs. She was so busy and tired!
The young lady working at the front desk was very helpful (I did not know her name). She was friendly and polite, and helped me when I needed it.

MaltaDoors, shower , installation of some more bulbs in bedroom and common area not inviting at all.
Only location is good. No lift to our room. To find something in the luggage you need a torch. Too dark inside and just a small bulb for all the room. Shower so small and with a shower curtain but at least clean. Bed is fairly comfortable.

United KingdomHardly a boutique hotel as the name suggests. The staff were rude and not welcoming. The room was very VERY small. While it was generally clean, the curtains had stains on. The room was very hot especially at night, considering its March, would be unbearable in the summer months with no aircon. The room had a foul smell! Appreciate this is likely not an easily solvable problem but sprays or ventilation could mitigate this inside the bathroom!
This hotel is in an ideal location; 5 minutes away from the cathedral and train station allows for comfortable walking distance from landmarks which is ideal for a short cityscape

United Kingdom4 flights of stairs with no elevator. The ‘shower’ was a hose attached to the bath and not even a child could stand due to the slanted roof. The staff were hit a miss, some miserable - others couldn’t do more to help. Cleanliness was ok.. found a used bottle of water in the room. Dreadful communication beforehand - had a couple of problems with the booking and they were so rude.
