Although this Steigenberger misses the Steigenberger wow-factor it is still an excellent hotel situated within a short walking distance of the centre. Or use the tram, tram stops opposite the hotel. Our hotel room was spacious with a view of Cologne Cathedral and the Hahnentor. Bed, walk-in shower, soundproofing, breakfast all very good. Large parking garage under the hotel. Friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay.

The location felt quite far from the main train station, easily walkable if you’re fine with a 30/40 minute walk and there are some really nice coffee boutiques near by and the SS museum is around 15 minutes away too, but when we were walking back from Claudius Therme, it felt never ending 😅

Staff were really friendly, someone was always on reception if you needed anything. Breakfast was great, really well signposted for vegans and vegetarians which makes like so much easier. Coffees weren’t great but the marble cake and the different cheeses and breads were amazing; one of the breakfast team, a chef I think, was exceptionally friendly and always had a huge smile on his face. The room was nice, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a good size too.

Breakfast was expensive (c. 30 euros), but there was a huge range of choice and it was very tasty.

Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bar in the hotel was not overly expensive (nice for a quick drink to chill out before bed time).

Staff not very helpful. Couple of errors with the final bill and now (1 month after our stay) still some unjustly creditcard reservations have not been released, after multiple attempts to contact the front desk..

Location in the heart of Cologne, near public trnsportation,modern and quiet rooms, easy parking underground. In the lobby they had a coffe machine and juice free for the guests. Their porter is a bonus, very helpful and harworking, takes good care of the guests and makes sure all is well iaround the hotel

We arrived in a May heatwave, and as with all hotels these days air conditioning units are the norm and we struggled to get it work efficiently! The housekeeper reset it for us, but it was still a little too warm for our comfort. In keeping with German law, the bar is not open on a Sunday evening.

Great modern hotel with comprehensive breakfast choices and the staff worked hard to keep it supplied and tables clear. Our room was very large and had a view of the Rudolfplatz Gate with the Cathedral in the distance. It has easy access to both Metro and Trams, and would recommend buying a Cologne Travel Ticket to gain quick access to the historic centre. The bar was very pleasant and not overly expensive. In the bar/lounge area they provide complimentary hot and cold drinks. They have a great pillow menu that I found very helpful. I would definitely return if in Cologne again.

Basic housekeeping issues. Towels were not cleared or replaced. Took over an hour after asking to get fresh towels. Soap dispensers were not refilled and the room was not cleaned at all during our stay. Only beds were made. Also the room by the end of the day was like an oven. Takes a while to cool it down…so not ideal for summer.

Wear and tear in the room, door bathroom at the bottom is rotting, some chips of the wall. Good do with a spruce up. Dirty toilet when we checked in!

I noticed that they have an specific time for house keeping, so, I you wake up late, and put the hanger outside the door with the label "Please clean my room", you will not received housekeeping :( The pillows were weird, I had a hard time to put them in a way my head found comfortable.

I like the location, the views from the windows (I stayed in the 9th Floor) The bed was comfortable and big. The room itself Washington bigger (I've got an upgrade) The room was clean and quiet.

However, the room was not very clean. There were one or two stains on the bathroom floor, perhaps difficult to clean, and there was also a smell of smoke. The carpet in the hallway on our floor was also not very clean. There is a parking lot accessible from the hotel lobby, but we were informed that the hotel does not have an agreement with the parking lot. This means that for a 24-hour period, parking costs €28. Or, for parking by the hour, it's €2.80 per hour. So, if you don't leave the car parked but drive in and out occasionally, you could end up paying up to €40-45 per day, which is quite a lot. The hotel should at least offer the option of a daily pass where you can enter and exit within 24 hours without additional charges

For the price of the accomodation I would have expected the room to be at an excellent standard. When the bathroom door was shut, there was obvious missed hair and dust from previous occupants - also there was mould around the shower area - which could have been easily maintained by replacing the silicon for appearances. There was nice flooring on the floor - but would have been more comfortable (& warmer) with carpet. The breakfast was lovely - we only got it on day one - as 25 Euro each was a little pricey.

Great location to main shopping strip - and walkable down to the Cathedral. The option of taking the train/ tram was close by to the Hotel - and another one out to the Michael Schumacher Collection was a short walk away. There was a lovely cafe for great coffee (including a Flatwhite!) was located by the archway across from the Hotel - and also a supermarket, and other eateries (including a lovely Indian restaurant) close by also. The staff were helpful and welcoming. The foyer area was nice - but as others have commented - could have used further decor - plants, paintings/ artwork or other fresh bright furnishings. The lounge area was nice to sit in - but these things would have been an added bonus aesthetically.

Genuinely nice and spacious room, great (but a bit pricy) breakfast in a very authentic and lively non-touristy neighbourhood. I would recommend this hotel especially if you are coming by car. The parking garage is below the hotel.

Did not have one-use convenience accessories like slippers, earbud cleaners, toothbrush, etc. Also, a small iron for ironing pants & shirts would be convenient, especially for business travel.

The room was clean and quiet, the breakfast was full and fresh, the staff was kind and helpful. Restaurants and mini markets right across the entrance. Bus stop very close.
