Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsBecause of this excellent hotel other places seem, well, mediocre at best. Nothing in the region comes close as far as we can tell
If you read this: we tend to be critical people when it comes to hotels and restaurants. Apparently there is such a thing of being made to feel to welcome! It seems everyone is trying their utmost to make your stay perfectly pleasant. From valet parking, bellboys (-men), a classic interior, lovely lounge (safely accessible for guests only), complementary minibar, excellent housekeeping(!) and a ln extremely helpful Personal Assistant that helps you find your way in Dusseldorf or book you a table in a restaurant. Truly a new level in hospitality. We were amazed. Then of course there is the perfect location; in the centre, between altstad and Königsallee. We are fans of the Breidenbacher Hof. We loved our stay from minute one.

IrelandEven though I requested well in advance and received 2 friendly emails confirming the request, we were given one bed instead of two. If you’d t have twin rooms don’t offer them in booking. If you do, keep them for those that request them a month in advance.
The room was big and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent - though very expensive. Dinner in Duchy was disappointing. Soggy small salmon from Iceland.

TurkeyNothing to complain about.
Always a pleasure to stay when you are in Düsseldorf. Very centrally located, in front of the Metro line and right by the famous Königsallee and Altstadt, shopping district and the Old Town area respectively. The staff is friendly but professional. Mr. Bark, at the breakfast buffet, were always eager to please and help you out with your selections. The rooms are spacious and has all the amenities one would neef in such a high class setting. The bar area is cozy and has live piano sessions which was nice. Wide selection of wine and cocktail list to choose from, I would recommend you to check it out. Overalp, this is the placecto stay in Düsseldorf...

United KingdomIt is on the expensive side (€59 for the breakfast buffet for example) for the part of the world it is in, but if you are looking for a luxury hotel, cannot recommend highly enough
Absolutely flawless. One of the very best hotels I have ever stayed in. The location was perfect, in a safe, central, fashionable shopping district. The room (we had booked a suite and were upgraded to an executive suite on arrival) was stunning. The staff were incredibly attentive, went out of their way to help. All above and beyond. 5 stars + . The restaurant (mix of french and european fine dining) was also excellent, including for breakfast. Get the lobster soup.

TurkeyNothing to complain about whatsoever. Everything was really smooth and the hotel is taking care of any issues you may have in case something goes wrong.
The location is right in the heart of Altstadt and close to all the nice attractions, Königsallee, the shopping areas nearby Schadowstrasse etc., beautiful parks, as well as the metro line. The staff is very attentive, starting from the bellhop, the doorman, front desk, housekeeping staff, the breakfast room staff who were always greeting with smiles, always making you feel at home. The very first night I was greeted with the Night Manager Christian I believe was his name, has helped me get through with a smooth process of check*in, which I am grateful for. In the morning, you get to have a rich breakfast buffet with everything you can ask for, with the best staff there is, tending to your special dieatary restrictions etc.. Every ingredient was hearty and delicious in the buffet, so I highly recommend it. The living room area is one of my favorite spots at the hotel after a long day outside, you get to sit on some comfy chairs and have some mint tea and relax before you go to your room if you choose so. Rooms are spacious, with automated controls for lighting as well as the curtains so you can get a great night's sleep without interruption. Beds are comfy as well. The toiletry, the amenities were top notch and high class. The room service was satisfactory and arrived timely from the time you order to your door. Overall, this is one of the top 3 hotels in the city and I would recommend it in a heartbeat to any traveller who likes to appreciate good things in life. You are worth it.

KuwaitThey promised a nice view of the room and we had a very bad scene just the rooftop of a building. There is prejudice against short height people. The bed was, the washbasin and even the toilet were too high

United KingdomNot much but there is a cigar lounge through the bar and the smell from the cigar smoke does seep into the bar area. The separate Lobby Lounge is not impacted. The Lobby Lounge and The Duchy can get busy with non-residents.
This is an excellent hotel in a very good location in the centre of Düsseldorf, close to the main shopping areas and the Christmas markets. The bar and lounge are comfortable (although see comment about the cigar lounge). The hotel restaurant (The Duchy) serves high quality, local dishes. The staff throughout are friendly and professional. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with complementary soft drinks & beer. There is also a resident-only living room with tea & coffee available.
