I visited the Residenz hotel in July during very hot weather and there was no air conditioning in the room at all and had to leave the room nearly all day to get away from the heat inside the room. During the night it was difficult to get to sleep. Very uncomfortable. I could not fully open the curtains or windows for fresh air due to the office building opposite overlooking my room. On my last day my flight was cancelled and I had to stay the night in a budjet (IBIS) hotel which had full air conditioning all day and night and was far more comfortable than the Residenz. The other very disappointing point of the Residenz hotel was that the room was only cleaned by the maid every four days and on the day that the maid did visit she did not renew the shower soap container that was empty. Also on the same day, I had left a coffee cup dirty which was not washed or replaced and she did not leave fresh coffee, milk and sugar. That was the case for the whole seven days! I am sorry to say a very disappointing service.

The should speak better english at the reception, no supermarket near the hotel.

Great hotel, friendly staff, some of them should learn more english, we only meet one person at the reception who could speak good english. Awesome breakfast, great swimmingpool. Close to streets with a lot restaurants.

We requested an early check in after driving from the ferry in Rotterdam but was asked to wait over 1.5 hours for the second room we had booked, that was an extra 20 minutes over their advertised normal check in time.

It’s a bit dated as a hotel. The bar had strange opening hours, so I had to try to use the automated drinks machine. I say try because it only took coins, and though I had some Euro notes on me, I ended up getting a beer from the very nice desk manager…

I really enjoyed using the pool at this hotel. It’s a little gem of a facility in the middle of Detmold! Also, top tip from me: get a room facing the park; the balconies are great. Really nice to have my coffee in the sun out there!

My Breakfast Muesli had living tiny worms ... This does not improve the appetite ... I must have swallowed some of these tiny worms .... To be mentioned: I am Vegetarian and did NOT ask for these "hidden" proteins 😉

The room temperature was very hot for whatever reason upon our arrival. Was quite hard to maintain a comfortable temperature from then on unfortunately. The WiFi was also a bit dodgy. The beds are not that comfortable either.

The staff were wonderful and extremely friendly. We felt very welcomed. Really is in a great location too.

I preffer a bit harder matress. Slightly outdated interior. It could use some bar so later at night you could grab a drink.

We arrived by train and the hotel was just 10min away by foot. Close to a beautiful old town, surrounded by nice shops and restaurants. Breakfast was with plenty of choices.

Actually it was pretty good, unfortunately we had to move the bed ones and under it, it wasn't clean at all. Let's call it, a very special case.

As mentioned, the hotel is pretty good located. We had a little problem, the toilet was not stopping. So we immediately got a new room. Very nice service, very nice stuffs and in general quite Clean. We got a iron, a hairdryer is available, coffee, tea and water is available. Very satisfying.
