Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IcelandThere was a strange spot on the wall and strange smell. The blackout curtains didn't reach all the way so there always was a 10 cm-ish gap that a light sled trough. There was much sound outside even if the windows were fully closed and there was so much noise if people were walking the hall and they were only walking in the hall. The keychain had this big pendule that made even higher noise and it woke me up a few times so I was not really happy about the non-excistent sound proofing. Picture below of the light gap and the strange mold-like stain on the wall. It was right behind the bathroom wall so probably this is a mold. There were no cups in the room to drink from so that would be nice to have and the wifi was unuseable.
It was cheap. Cleaning staff friendly. I never met the other hotel staff but I called them once and they were positive and helpful.

SpainIn principle all was OK but but there were some important issues: only one toilet had toilet paper and you can hear everything through thin walls. In the rooms there are no ventilation so during the night there is no replacement oxygen. Rooms have old, and a bit smelly, carpets. The pillow was old and lumpy. With small changes it could be a nice place.
Location was good. Receptionist was nice.

BelgiumThe room I'd booked to stay at with two children + myself had a baby cot as the third bed. Children are 12 and 15, luckily we ended up adding a second room for an extra traveler and we managed to relocate the third sleeper.
Proximity to the BayArena makes this the best in terms of location and value for money for the traveling supporter. Breakfast was very OK, beds were comfy. Building and inside looks a bit run down, but clean and functional.

NetherlandsThe early check-in instruction's confusing. I did as what's in the message the hotel sent me, but there's no keys for my room in the box outside, and nobody answered my phone call. Fortunately I managed to get in finally after 30min-waiting. Also, There's no shampoo.
The room is very warm and clean. The location is, though a bit far from the train station, good as there's supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The staff are friendly.

GermanyI'm not an smoker, but i didn't like the fact if someone causes the smoke alarm to raise, they come and force all guests to open their rooms so they can inspect who raised it, which i certainly didn't like it.. they don't even allow you to wear your cloths for someone else faults ,.. could make a system that they already knew which room raised the alarm, not disturbing and annoying all rooms one by one.
room and bathroom are fine, good in size and comfortable... there is plenty of windows with sunlight and many shelves to put your stuffs if you have many, it is very quiet and staff are responsive. Very good free WiFi was the best thing !

GermanyIt was disgusting. I wouldn't call it a hotel at all. A pigsty is cleaner. The shared toilet was always full of literal crap. The room I had disgusting floors. They were covered in God only knows what. Not even whoever made that mess likely remembers what it was (I have pictures, I'll be leaving a review on every possible site to warn others). The price was the same at my second hotel and that one was perfect! The fake reviews on all of the sites about this place really fooled me. I would be so embarrassed had I told anyone from work to book here. The parking was difficult as well, you pretty much have to park halfway on the side walk, and it cost 8 euros. The person who works at the counter never answers the phone. I must have called 30 times during my trip. I finally got someone on the phone at the very end in the evening, so it may be that the night reception tries a bit harder. And when I went to drop my key off no one was there either. There was a lady staying next door who felt right at home, and she was yelling a ton. Trashy all around. The reviewer who said it is great for business trips likely meant it's great to send disliked colleagues here; in which case I agree!
I didn't like anything; I stayed one night because I had to and booked another hotel for the remaining two nights. All of their other "good" reviews are 100% fake. Obviously no refund was given as they say right away they don't do that. It's their income to fool business travelers after all. They'd be broke if they had to return people's money. The building should honestly be ripped down, I don't even see a renovation saving it.
