We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

United StatesI didn’t realize the air conditioner was only in the big bedroom. The bedroom upstairs did not have air. We needed to reserve a second casita so the other couple in our group would have air conditioning
The staff was so incredibly helpful in fixing ANY issue. They really tried to work on concerns. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and dishes. The casita is very rustic. The kitchen had service to the outdoor patio. We enjoyed morning coffee on the patio listening to the birds and howler monkeys. We did have a pisote (coati) visit during the night. You must make sure all shutters are well closed and locked. They can tend to come up and abscond with anything left on the counter. The swimming pool was a welcome addition in the afternoon.

Costa RicaThe road from San Juanillo to the hotel is just 5km but it is in very bad conditions. no lights or good signs so it is very easy to get lost at night. The cabins are in bad conditions, doors don’t lock, freezer with a lot of ice, bathroom walls dirty, toilet didn’t flush properly , grounds were not kept, no cleaning during the stay, etc. The maid comes to wash towels and sheets in the mornings and dry them around the swimming pool area 🤷♀️ The entrance doesn’t have a gate and the keeper left every afternoon. No guards or people responsable for the clients at night which made us very uncomfortable. Payment in cash only to the keeper without any receipt. Still waiting for electronic receipt from the bookkeeper

United StatesTransportation to get anywhere is difficult. If you take a taxi there, save the info to use them again, or pay a local $10-20 to give you a ride on a motorcycle. The restaurant was closed the whole time we were there so don’t rely on eating there; just buy some food to cook in your own lovely little kitchen!
The owner, Juan, was so delightful, welcoming and sweet. There are only a few villas so the pool scene was low key and the pool was ours!

JapanWooden stairs going to bungalow were falling apart. No A/C in main cabin. Had to go outside to go to the bathroom. Cockroaches in the room and didn’t look like anyone cleaned for awhile.
