Such a pleasant turn of events. We ended up at Hotel Nya for one night last minute after booking at another hotel in the area that was just a bit too noisy and hot for our 2-month-old infant. I had seen the property before and thought it was stunning, but was nervous to book a typical hotel stay (sharing walls with others) with an unpredictable, potentially crying, infant. Hotel Nya was able to accommodate us last minute and allowed us to enjoy the pool facilities while we waited for our room to be ready. I wasn't sure how baby-friendly a property this nice would be, but they provided a travel crib, left some milk in the fridge, and even had a kiddie pool and toys next to the main pool. Great water pressure, comfortable bed, great AC. The property feels very boutique and was mostly young couples and one other young family. The location is just minutes from the Montezuma waterfalls and Montezuma Beach but still feels very lush, private, and part of the natural surroundings. Though we loved our visit to Santa Teresa, Montezuma felt like a much more authentic Costa Rican town. We had one of our best wildlife experiences of the trip here when we were treated to both Capuchin and Howler monkeys swinging from the trees at dusk-- right outside our room! We watched them play for half an hour from our balcony. I would have loved to have had more time to explore the trails on the property. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, Ubin, which was one of the best meals I ate during our week in Costa Rica. (Get the sea bass.) Even though it's a very upscale experience, we never felt uncomfortable when our baby was a bit fussy during the meal. Breakfast at the restaurant (included in our stay) was also delicious. We would absolutely stay here again if we returned.

The monkeys in the tree every day! The people that worked there were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us and our baby. We loved the treats every day in the room too!

It was all great, but if we were being really picky a mirror and a bit more storage in the bedroom would be good.

Great location for the beach and town area. The hotel grounds and pool area were well maintained and it felt like a little oasis. We were so lucky to see monkeys within the first 30 minutes of arriving. The rooms were clean and a good size. Breakfast was tasty. The turn down service treats were great. All the little touches made our stay. The staff were friendly. We had a great time.

Our only issue was our AC shut off in 2 of the different rooms we stayed in but we called the front desk and someone came up immediately and resolved the issue each time. We will definitely be returning for the staff and the amazing views.

It was beautiful and a great location. We had wild monkeys come down to us. It was very close to the beach. The staff was amazing. And the food was delicious. Most stay place in Montezuma!!!

Nothing I didn’t like just a couple of suggestions. Perhaps a full length mirror in the room and skimming the pool more often.

So many things…a wonderful full breakfast every morning included in the price. Each morning served with a new flavor of juice. Turn down service every night which included a different “treat”. Staff was friendly and helpful. Has a pool. I thought a great value.

A lot of the restaurant staff, particularly one waitress who served us while we were there, seemed to be annoyed at any request or even greeting. Food/drinks way overpriced.

Great location, steps away from downtown Montezuma. The hotel had all of the facilities you could ask for and I even did an amazing yoga class. I wouldn't necessarily say that the price equated to the price, but it was a very comfortable stay. The most kind and helpful staff member was Sting, whose attitude and sense of humour was so appreciated. The people at the front desk were also very helpful in assisting us with transportation and tours. The included breakfast was basic but good. Food and drinks were really good.

The staff wasn’t the friendliest I encountered throughout my trip in Costa Rica. Also, I expected much more of the breakfast and food.

The location is amazing, as well as the nature that surrounds the hotel. Swimming pool is very relaxing, and the rooms are spacious and beds super comfi.

One dinner was a bust. When we arrived the restaurant was crowded. It took about an hour for the appetizer to arrive. Then another long period past so we asked the waiter to cancel the entre. We were the last people in the restaurant. Just at that time he said the main course was ready. Unfortunately the shrimp in the curry shrimp was WAY over cooked and hard. The rice was way under cooked. We suspect the cook had left and the cleaning staff did the cooking...the waiter apologized and made sure to take care of us at the breakfast. The hotel is not right on the beach so you have to walk down a couple blocks to the beach. The beach is rocky at that location so to get to sand you have to walk a few blocks farther. We did not go to the beach since we were on excursions, snorkeling and sunset cruise.

A beautiful secluded upscale hotel in the jungle. A beautiful swimming pool and fine restaurant except for 1 dinner which did not come off.

Lots of ants in the room - staff kindly left snacks but weren’t cleared away if you didn’t eat them. Shower leaked into bedroom. No full length mirror!

We liked the overall vibe of the hotel. It is located in the small village of beautiful Montezuma village, next to shops, restaurants and bars. Wonderful pool area, beautiful gardens, comfortable rooms, friendly staff. Would stay there again.

Half of the staff at the restaurant was excellent. The big Costa Rican guy and girl on day-shift were not very friendly and did not appear to want to work, but the long haired guy and the lighter skinned Costa Rican guy were great. If everyone in the staff was optimistic I would have rated this as of the best of many, many hotels I've ever stayed at. Sorry I can't give a top rating if some of the staff are crabby. The cleaning ladies were super sweet and we loved them. A TV would have been nice. It's rather odd not to have one when even cheap AirBNBs have them. And no, not every visitor to Nya should be outside the entire time. There isn't much to do in town other than the same cookie cutter tours you can find anywhere else in Costa Rica. Some of us want to hang out in the room most of the time after long trips to Costa Rica. Didn't really care for the city of Montezuma. There were lots of hipsters and locals that smelled like rank armpits and wet anus and the streets smelled like the French Quarter of New Orleans the morning after Mardi Gras.

Loved the location and the seclusion. Liked the little culinary surprises left in our room. The food was top-notch - had the best steak of the trip at Nya ( of many steaks at many places in Costa Rica). The New York strip was out of this world. Check-in staff was excellent.
