We found a scorpion in one of our rooms and were cautious of bugs, but there's not much to be done as this is the nature of Monteverde.

Location, access and parking were easy. Staff was friendly, helpful, and available. They were able to accommodate an early check-in and kept an eye on our bags for a while after check-out.

The breakfast was ok, but we expected a little bit better based on the reviews.

Nice hotel, very close to rainforests, coffee plantations and also to city center - 5-10 mins by car. The rooms are really large and have all you need. It is usually very quiet and the garden is well-maintained. The owner has a cat and a dog but they are very friendly.

The only bummer when I booked it, I thought we were getting one of the private cabins that the pictures showed, but we were in one of the two rooms in the main building behind the reception. It could have been my fault but I didn’t know that there were rooms like that and thought they were just single cabins…

I loved the trails behind the hotel and I liked that it was walking distance from them. It was a beautiful hotel.

The walls for the rooms were paper thin though and you could hear EVERYTHING in the rooms next to you. This wasn't a problem as our neighbors were respectful and I played white noise. The bed was extremely hard and they only had one pillow for each of us.

The hotel property was beautiful and it was close enough to walk to town. There was a simple breakfast included, which was nice. There was also plenty of hot water (I saw some reviews saying there wasn't but there was). The staff was super friendly and helpful.

It's a short walk from the town but this did not bother us too much.

The property is super nice with a feeling that you are in the middle of the forest. Staff are super helpful and manage to communicate even though they do not speak English.

Hotel manager left on holidays as per our understanding and staff was left on duty with very little knowledge. This resulted in lots of frustration as they couldn’t answer the Simplest questions.

When we arrived, the person at the reception informed us that they don't have any room available for the first night of our stay (they overbooked). They eventually found us another hotel for the first night and offered us an upgrade to a challet room. However, the replacement hotel (Rustico) had very badly isolated rooms and you could hear all the sounds from outside, especially the wind blowing and that caused us poor sleeping. On top of this, the cleanliness of the hotel could be improved: the toilet wasn't exactly clean and there was dust on several spots in the room, showing that it wasn't used/touched for a while. There were only 2 large towels provided, but no hand/face towels. The location isn't bad, but if you wanna walk to the centre of Santa Elena it takes about 25 minutes and it's not the most pleasant walk as there's no sidewalk for the most part and cars pass by frequently on the main road with speed, so you're better off using the car.

The garden was pretty nice and offered a great atmosphere and the room had large windows.

The bed linen has not been changed prior to our arrival and was extremely yukky. The staff left just after our arrival (7pm), so we could not ask anyone to make up the room. When addressing this to the owner in the morning, the only thing she did, was asking her staff if the room was cleaned - no excuse, no discount, no anything. Bathroom has a very moldy smell. The walls between the rooms are paper thin and every noise can be heard.

It gets cold in Monteverde after dark, so that’s why the cabin does not have AC, which is totally fine.

We loved our cabin and our stay overall. Fairly quiet, no mosquitoes and strong shower. Breakfast was homemade, with different options to choose from. The owner is very friendly, and we loved the cat and the funny dog. They have free parking and an extra service for laundry that was very useful.

Everything. Starting from the staff who is rude and think people do not understand when they speak Spanish between them. They do not care for you right from the very first step when you cross the doors. The chalet we got was dirty (ok, they changed the sheets). The bathroom looked like it has not been cleaned for the past few weeks, and I would not put a bare foot in the shower. There were no towels (we needed to ask for them), and when you looked at the floor, you could have seen dust and footsteps of all people who were walking there recently. No screens in windows, so bugs everywhere, and only small windows which you could open, so hot inside. No fan. No AC. Worst "hotel" I have ever stayed, I guess. We left after two hours when all the bugs started attacking as it was getting dark. I would give it 0, but there is no such option.

There is nothing to like about this place. I am not sure who is giving positive reviews to this place and the staff, possibly these are paid reviews.

Best beds we had in Costa Rica. The cabins are spacious and the bedding is extremely comfy. We could sleep wth the sounds of the birds and experience nature front hand with armadillos walking in front of our cabin and colibríes flying in the garden. Great location and good service. Wonderful experience.

To get to town it’s a 15 min walk and during the rainy season it could be a bit of a hassle.

Nature, the armadillo living under our hut, the family constellation session and the two Lauras made our experience fantastic.
