The initial room we were in was small and dark with just one window and we felt we had overpaid for what we received. Once speaking to Matheo he kindly upgraded us to the apartment which we was very grateful for.

Once we were kindly upgraded to the apartment we really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was spacious so baby could crawl and play around and was a nice liveable space for our 9 day stay. It is located a walk away from Cahuita National park which we recommend but you will need to pay for a taxi to get into the main town of Cahuita down the main road approx 3000 / $5. The hosts are a lovely French couple who were very helpful and accommodating. The pool and jacuzzi was enjoyable and you are surrounded by lots of lovely fruit plants. A home away from home. Would recommend 😌

The weather was not great!

Really enjoyed our stay here. The garden and pool (although we barely used it) we're beautiful. Our apartment was great and we enjoyed being there. Our hosts were very friendly and breakfast was an enjoyable affair, cooked in an open kitchen by our hosts. The property was nicely placed about 3km outside Cahuita, which meant it was quiet. You are right next to a national park entrance. The host takes you to Cahuita at 8.30am if you want and you can do the walk (9km, mixture of beach and jungle) back to the hotel. You can book trips through the hotel or you can easily nip into Cahuita and book. A restaurant recommendation is Sobre Las Olas by Gondwana. It is right by the ocean and beautiful. Lovely food too. Enjoy the Caribbean coast. We did!

Owners welcomed us and gave us all relevant info on activities to do in the area. They offered a free shuttle service to the Cahuita National Park entrance. You can enjoy a great breakfast and pools. We got the chance to spot a sloth in their garden. The owners are really careful and kind, they made our first nights in Costa Rica perfect.

The pool was a great amenity to have surrounded by lush green trees. The hosts were great and even dropped me at a slightly different location in town for a surf lesson I had booked. Matheo even organised a food delivery on my last night as I was feeling ill and delivered it straight to my door. Easy to walk to one entrance of the National Park which was great and called me a taxi when I wanted to go into Cahuita

Great owners, took a last minute booking and everything was easy, from check in to use of the facilities, which were incredibly nice! Large pool, AC in rooms, private parking. Excellent place to stay in the Cahuita area. They also shuttle guests to the park in the AM and if you hike the park trail it exits not far from the hotel!

Shower didn’t had much pressure

It felt very homelike here. The owners, a lovely french couple, were very welcoming and helpful. The facility is top - there is a kitchen for the guests, a pool and even a grill.

This is a hidden gem!! Breakfast, hotelroom, swimming pool; everything was clean, well thought out and delicious! The owners will help you with info about the area, tours, restaurants etc. They are really nice and welcoming! We stayed 3 nights and our kids were actually sad to leave...

The property is beautiful and easy to find. It backs onto the national park and you can enjoy the sounds of the wildlife in the park. The family running the hotel are amazing and made our stay even better. The breakfast is delicious and a perfect way to start your day before heading out. We would definitely recommend anyone who’s visiting Cahuita to stay here!

Merci beaucoup to the owners from Hotel El Colibri Rojo. The Place is very nice. You have a wonderful garden with pool. We used the kitchen for cooking and there is also a coffeemachine. We booked with Breakfast and we recommend this, because it was very very good. The room was very clean and we had enough space. From here you can visit all the places, because its not so far away by car. It was a good place far from the trouble. For the National Park Cahuita, the owner can drive you to the entrance and when you exit it’s just 300m to the Hotel. The owner was very friendly and helpful. A surprisingly beautiful short stay. The place is beautiful, right at the age of the Cahuita National Park. The lift to the park was greatly appreciated! Breakfast was delicious! The host was very accommodating letting us to leave our car to stay longer. Thank you!

The grounds at Colibri Rojo are beautiful and very well-maintained. We stayed in the apartment, which was perfect for our family of four. We appreciated the 2 spacious rooms, warm shower, fresh towels every day, and many other touches to make our stay comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed including a large fridge, and the outdoor living area was lovely for lounging during the day or at night and just steps from the pool. The warm and friendly service from Perrine and family was top-notch and we appreciated the recommendations and help finding taxis or navigating our way around. The hotel is about 3 km from Cahuita so a car is helpful, but we were fine taking taxis to town (about 5$ US) and Perrine was happy to help us arrange this. She also offers a free shuttle to town right after breakfast, so that is another great option. Overall, we were so pleased with our week at Colibri Rojo and appreciate Perrine’s hospitality so much!

- Amazing owners, so helpful, attentive, friendly, make you feel totally welcome and do everything to make your stay comfortable - there is a pool and jacuzzi which is really cool - property is placed just around the corner from the entrance to National Park which is an amazing experience- this entrance is much wilder and gives a proper wildlife experience (compared to Cahuita entrance) - common access kitchen which was very handy - AC in the room - very chilled atmosphere overall, nice Caribbean vibe :) I was late with check out because i underestimated time at the National Park, and there was absolutely no problem, the owner is really understanding, helpful and chilled 🌞 - cats and dogs at the property 💜

I suggest to change the pillows they are so hard also the position of the AC because in our room #3 the air flow is stuck only from the second bed no for the main bed

The room is very clean, the staff is so helpful, pool and jacuzzi are very good. I recommend stay in this place and drive thru Puerto Viejo you will see many wonderful beaches, and taste the Caribbean's food.
