We liked everything.

This hotel has multiple accommodations nestled in a gorgeous tropical garden. In addition to the trees, shrubs, and flowers (identified by discreet signs), there are three resident sloths, several varieties of iguana, poison dart frogs, and cute ghekoes. The room was really comfortable, with efficient AC, a superb shower with organic toiletries, and a good bed. There are two pools to cool off after a day enjoying the beaches, the cute town, the national park (which is an easy walk), or activities the staff happily will arrange for you with first-class guides. And what a staff! We fell in love with the hostesses and our waiter/bartender. They could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. The breakfast is ample and tasty (with plenty of fresh fruit, homemade toast and three rotating entree choices each day,) and the lovely dining room also serves delicious dinners .To top it all off, the pricing is very reasonable. We could not have been more happy with our choice.

Wi-fi was sometimes iffy, but manageable.

The hotel and the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff, from the managers, to the receptionists, to the housekeepers and the gardners were warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. We loved our bungalow suite and enjoyed both of the pools. The free breakfast was greatly appreciated and the restaurant was well managed and very good.

Nothing at all

There was nothing at all not to like. The room upgrade was an unreal way to start our stay at El Encanto. Staff super friendly and helpful. The wildlife inside the grounds included sloths, toucans, frogs, iguanas, lizards and bunch more birds. Central location 10 minute walk into town.

Rooms either need small refrig or property needs an ice machine or shared refrig. There was no way to keep anything cold to drink.

Pool smaller that it looks in photos but still okay.

Lovely spacious room, gorgeous gardens, decent pool. Great to see the resident sloth in the garden - what a treat. Some reviews said room #9 was very noisy above the kitchen. We stayed in room 9 and although above the kitchen the noise was not an issue. Yes, could hear things at times but not early morning or late at night so sleep not disturbed.

Beautiful property with very friendly staff. The location was fantastic. There is a beach right across the street and the walk to the village was 5 minutes. You can also walk 5 minutes north to Playa Negra. The complementary breakfast was delicious and the hotel has a nice restaurant for dinners as well.

Nothing!

This was my favourite place we stayed on our 2 week trip in Costa Rica. It was so peaceful plus the wildlife (sloths, iguanas, frogs etc) on the property and of course the kitty cat living there really made this place one to remember! The staff were lovely and food at the restaurant was great too. Also some nice restaurants a short walk into town and we felt safe to walk at night but were never out late. Beaches were also just a short walk away.

The bungalows are set in a beautiful garden full of wildlife. Lots of places to hang out and chill and enjoy. Room absolutely spotless. Super comfy beds with mosquito nets. Great wifi and air con, towels for beach, pool and shower. Great breakfast. Free tea and coffee in the morning and afternoon. We had an amazing stay and would definitely come back.

Our room was dark and the mosquito net was not well set up. Also, although close to the sea, there was no sea view.

My only issue was the rooms look larger on the pics, but I purchased an extra room so I was happy I could spread out.

Loved the grounds. So beautiful and landscaped perfectly. Can’t believe there weren’t more people in the restaurant. Whoever is the cook knows how to cook pasta. I had two different types and was so happy with both. Enjoyed having the pool to ourselves at night. And, the housekeeping service was above and beyond. We didn’t expect the daily service, but loved it. Breakfast is for early risers, but 3 great options. The coffee is nice and strong! The restaurant staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a nice 25th anniversary. Much appreciated. As we drove through the area, I was convinced I mad the perfect choice. Gracias.

Breakfast is basic but edible.

Perfectly located between the town and playa negra. Beautiful gardens and 2 refreshing pools to cool down in. Lots of wildlife in the garden including iguanas and frogs.
