Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe king sized bed was okay, its about time to replace as some sections you can feel the springs. The bathroom however could use a remodel, it felt very old. In fact first night there were an uncomfortable number of large ants in the bathroom and some in the main room. I know this is normal for Costa Rica and we had tiny ants at our prior hotel, but these were big! Fortunately the following two nights, only a few big ants showed up, which is the norm in CR.
This is probably the 3rd best hotel in Brasilito Beach, it was a great value for $135/night for the "Honeymoon Suite", but some rooms are as low as $60! The only two nicer options are the Westin and the W, but those will cost $400-800+/night! Very friendly staff, and amazing "Tipico" breakfast(included) with wonderful wildlife as dining companions. The "Honeymoon" suite isn't anything extraordinary, its one of the larger rooms with an extra small balcony. The room was clean overall and spacious for two people. Fridge and Airconditioning worked well. The onsite Papaya Restaurant is actually very good! Albeit a bit pricy.

NetherlandsWe loved the pool and the location. Yes, close to the road, but for us not as issue. Most important: it’s close to the two beaches! Only a 20min walk to beautiful playa Conchal. Breakfast was very good, room very big and quiet. Restaurant served good food. Lovely place!

United StatesThe bathroom and shower situation needed some love - hardly a trickle on the shower head and it would block up with sand/gunk and one day it fully exploded up the drain. Staff were responsive and cleaned it up right away.
Loved the staff, the location, and the quaint homey feel of the Conchal Hotel. Resident birds, iguanas, and monkies came to visit us too. Perfect location to Playa Conchal.

Switzerland-
The accommodation is ideally located. There are plenty of parking spaces in front of the hotel. The centre of Brasilito and the beautiful beaches are just a few minutes' walk away. We particularly liked the style of the hotel and the many bright colours. The room is stylishly furnished. Breakfast is served on a huge terrace and there are various options. We particularly enjoyed the traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Every day, Howler monkeys made their way across the hotel grounds and we were able to watch them up close. Fantastic.

Pool was lovely. Breakfast was a small selection but great. Fresh juice and coffee. Restaurant was amazing, food was excellent and decently priced..maybe on the higher side for some dishes. But overall very pleasant. Place and the staff is friendly willing to help in anyway.

United StatesOnly small issue was the parking is a tad limited. Luckily we always had a spot but I can imagine a situation where a guest has to get creative to fit their vehicle.
Beautiful setting, lush, private. Wildlife like tropical birds and iguanas present. Jennifer was a welcoming host. Sylvie and Donald worked at the Restaurant Papaya and could not have been more friendly. We miss them already!

United StatesThe room I was in was a little outdated but not a deal breaker.
YOU CAN WALK TO THE BEACH. I went in the evening and it was beautifully lit. I was greeted with a passion frozen drink. In the morning it looked completely different but just as great. The food was amazing and you can see the people cooking the food. My favorite thing was being greeted by Donald in the morning for breakfast. So happy and takes very good care of you. I just loved him. You can see the exotic birds, iguana and hear the monkeys. That is priceless. This place is wonderful.

United KingdomThe only way to describe this hotel is paradise. A beautiful and peaceful setting, made magical by all the surrounding wildlife that come to visit. We had beautiful birds to watch during breakfast, along with monkeys that passed through and enjoyed the trees around the hotel, and iguanas that wandered around. We had a choice of breakfast everyday, which was superb - delicious and cooked fresh, along with a plate of fruit and unlimited tea / coffee and fresh fruit juice. We did eat in the Papaya Restaurant on the Saturday night too - as they had live music on (I think most Tuesdays and Saturdays) - the food menu was great, loads of choices (even as a vegetarian), cooked fresh. The guacamole is a must-try!! Best and freshest guac I have ever tried. The music was incredible too - they had booked a local guitar player who was so talented, it wasn't just 'background music' but a true performance and we loved every second! The general vibe at this hotel is great, we spoke to all the guests and everybody there was just so friendly. We were extremely sad to leave after just 4 nights, we felt so at home here. This was our first visit to Costa Rica from the UK, and this hotel gave us the full Costa Rican experience and more. Blown away!

United KingdomHonestly, I can't fault this place. It's a mini paradise. Don't go for chain hotels. This is where it's at.
I absolutely loved our stay here. Sad we only stayed two nights. My husband and friends all loved it, too. The food was absolutely delicious; the staff are lovely, especially Donal. Extremely clean rooms simple but equipped with everything you need. crisp clean sheets and a comfortable bed. The fridge in the room is handy, too.

Enjoyed our stay at this very cute hotel, friendly staff and good facilities. Gorgeous gardens with plenty of wildlife including birds, iguanas and howler monkeys. 10 min stroll to Brasilito beach and another 10 to Playa Conchal, both nice but better beaches in the surrounding area
