This is our second stay at Mountain Reef Beach Resort. Excellent the last time, excellent this time. The resort is located on the beach in Tanote Bay. A very privileged location. This is the best location on Koh Tao as far as we are concerned. The snorkeling is pretty good. We booked a king room on the second floor. The bed is comfy, the AC is cold, the shower is hot, there is a refrigerator, safe, and plenty of space to put your things. You have a big outside deck with chairs to sit. The restaurant is excellent. Both the breakfast and the dinners are excellent. They rent snorkel gear, they can book you an all around the island snorkeling trip, and they can get you a ride to and from the ferry. The staff is extremely friendly and are always available to help. They have a well stocked ice cream refrigerator to purchase treats. The resort is quiet and relaxing. Couldn't ask for a better stay. An artist and journalist, I’m writing and shooting stories about culture and society in India and Thailand. The Rizin was the first place I stayed upon my arrival in Pattaya. The hostess who greeted me was so gracious. My room was peaceful, wonderful for concentrating on my work. The Beach Road can sometimes feel like Disneyland, and the Rizin offers a separate peace.

Great beach, clean facilities and nice staff. The breakfast was wonderful! Ate dinner at the beach bar a couple of times and it was very good. Plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas. Stayed 5 nights.

We got the room over an hour late, and where we had to wait, there were no air conditioning or even ceiling fans. We booked a room for 3 adults that was said to have a double bed and a sofa bed, but there was a tiny sofa that could fit a 4 year old at best, so we had to ask (and pay) for an additional bed. We didn't like the location so much, but some people may like it.

When I arrived I had chose wrong dates they were not helpful and made me pay for what I booked. No flexibility or support. Not enough Sun loungers for the size of the hotel. The umbrellas are attached so cannot move them for shade. Room AC made me sick, leaked into floor and I fell and injured myself. No restaurant no facilities. Extremely basic hotel. Not as per pictures.
