Terrible, terrible accommodation run by a greedy and inconsiderate man called Jorge. He took a last minute booking from us late in the evening, when he did not have a room ready and should not have accepted our booking He then left four women standing outside on the street with all our luggage for around an hour, and when we went to investigate, we found out that he was moving people out of the room he was giving us, pushing us all into one room with two double beds and charging us the same as two rooms Unfortunately, it was too late at this stage for us to book somewhere else and we were now in a venerable position and needing a bed for the night which he was fully aware of.

What didn't I like?? Everything. From the very beginning. it was obvious that the owner was not a fair man. We needed two rooms with two beds om each room and they seemed available on booking.com. One room was for 3 nights and the other was only for one night. When we got to the accommodation, the owner wanted to put us all into one room but still charge us the price for two rooms! When I said that we would only take the room for one night, he said that we still had to pay for three or else we could leave. This was after leaving us out on the street for an hour after our booking was accepted. I slept for 4 hours and awoke early to see what my rights were with Booking.com. Apparently none. So I put it to him again that the two women who were booked for a further 2 nights wanted to leave, and wanted our money back as ours was a late, last minute booking. He would not do this for us. The irony was that there was going to be a Corpus Christi procession there that morning and there was a prayer on a little alter they had set up about being generous, giving without waiting, and doing good. He would have done well to have headed the prayer on his own alter! Besides that, the accommodation was on a noisy street with what seemed like all the incoming Antigua traffic just outside. Also, as one other reviewer mentioned, there is waste ground next door with old garbage and burnt waste and we noticed some sort of vermin nearby.

Stunning views over the lake, a little bit of a walk up the hill or you can get a tuk tuk, but once you arrive you won’t want to leave! Really comfortable bed, peaceful, good wifi, friendly host, best views from a kitchen and shower ever. Felt like home and was hard to leave!

They picked us up from our shuttle when we arrived in Lanquin and took us to the hostel in Semuc Champay. Furthermore they say they don’t have WiFi but they do in the restaurant just not in the rooms.

Excellent location and customer service. Good varied breakfast.
