I would like to thank the owners of this hotel for sharing this special place with the rest of us. This is truly a special spot on this planet and one of Colombia's true gems. The views of the Cocora Valley from this hotel are breathtaking. Truly! The location is amazing. The hotel room was above and beyond my expectations. The view from the king bed, just wow! The hotel staff were wonderful. The kitchen staff were so very kind and served me the best pancakes I have ever had in Colombia! Thank you so much to everyone at this hotel. Great experience.

Santa Marta, Colombia

The hotel is gorgeous and cozy. Staff is so kind and discreet. Somehow they really fit with the place, very charming. Excellent location nearby supermarket and historical streets with main restaurants, nearby the central market where buses depart for main attractions. Rooms are spotless, charming and functionnal. I'd stay there again if I have to stay again in Santa Marta

The rooms upstairs are really quiet and nice (this was my first stay) but not the one on ground floor (my second stay): you hear everything from outside. It is usually quite quiet so not a major issue.

Really loved this place right on the entrance to Tayrona national parc. The host Lucilla (and her array of friendly pets) made me feel very welcome and homely. Great location so close to the entrance that I would've preferred to stay there and go into Tayrona each day.

Located in the middle of the impressive Colombian mountains, the hotel has great views and activities to discover the area. Our cabin was very nice and clean, the bed was very big and comfortable.

Getting there by car can be a challenge. You will need a 4x4 or go with a motorbike.

Beautiful camping, good restaurant and incredibly nice staff. We slept very well in a tent. Compared to other campings around, it seemed less crowded and more cozy

Although there were a proper desk and a char for work, the internet was slow so glad we didn't bring some work to do at the hotel room.

I rarely write reviews but I felt the high rating on booking was miles away from the actual experience, so here we go: - In Colombia, I’ve always found the people very welcoming. At El Hamaquero, that was quite frankly not the case. When asking a question, we usually got back a very grumpy answer. We never felt welcome, which is really a shame because there is almost nothing to do in the island itself so the ‘vibe’ of the hostel is all you have. Well, this vibe is: non-existent. The kitchen is only open between certain hours during the day, outside those hours, you’re on your own with zero restaurant options in the vicinity. The bar closes at 9 PM, after that, you can’t get anything from the bar, not even a bottle of water. Good luck! - The water in front of the hostel is not a beach. For a beach, you have to take a 40 minute walk to the other side of the island. It’s possible to snorkel in front of the hostel though. The snorkling itself is a bit disappointing but it’s a nice touch. What is not nice however is the rental of snorkel gear. We rented snorkel gear in the morning, expecting to be able to use it later on the day. When we wanted to grab our gear, they wanted to charge us again! Ridiculous 🥲 - We didn’t expect a lot but comfort wise, there isn’t much. We slept in ‘Deluxe’ private rooms. These had doors that couldn’t close and a single fan. It felt like sleeping in a Sauna.

This was my worst stay in Bogotá (and in my entire experience with hotels). We were locked inside the hotel with no way to get out on a Saturday night. We were, of course, given a code on a piece of paper, which I lost, but it’s absolutely insane and completely inappropriate for a 4-star hotel to have no way to contact anyone. What would have happened in case of an emergency? On Sunday morning, after several calls during the night (through Booking) and in the morning via the staff, I was finally able to speak to the manager. She apologized, saying there had been an issue with the night audit, which is why no one was present… but that’s not an excuse for me. She offered to comp the two nights (we arrived on Saturday and were leaving on Monday morning), which I of course accepted. After a walk in Bogotá on Sunday, I noticed the room hadn’t been cleaned, and there was no one at the hotel. On the day of checkout, there was no one serving breakfast and no staff at the hotel. I genuinely believe these people are extremely disrespectful. It’s unacceptable to treat people this way, and there is no excuse for it. So, if you want to have a nice time in Bogotá, do not go to Dios.
