The majority of staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, but unfortunately one manager wasn't which was disappointing. I had been previously assisted for another issue I had which was greatly appreciated, but maybe I wasn't VIP enough for this manager. No literature in the hotel to help with attractions/sites to visit etc.

I added a special request to my booking which was met. The location was good and in walking distance for the centre. The room was perfect and the beds were comfy. It was so nice to receive a hand written card, fruit, fizz & sweets on arrival. My room service lady was lovely and helped me with a few Chinese words and pronunciation, I so wish I had asked her name to give her the recognition.

The interior is a little dated but it gave it some vintage character which was cute in a way. The cushions on the sofa had some smell so some regular washing would be great...or change of covers because the duck feathers were popping out.

Room size was GREAT & clean. Location was AWESOME. Staff were really helpful. Walking distance to many many eateries and Jingan shopping area. Would definitely stay there again.

Pool being cleaned every Monday - this should have been told to us upon check-in, as I went for a swim on Monday and couldn't get into the pool, extremely disappointed. The manager offered a complimentary breakfast which I appreciated, but the breakfast itself was very 'local' in the types and varieties of food offered, with the service and presentation THERE being quite disappointing, unfortunately.

The fitness centre didn't feel exclusive. Plenty of outside gym members in the gym.

Great location, right next to luxury shops and restaurants, and just 3 minutes from a huge Starbucks. The rooms were fantastic. Despite a rough start with breakfast, the manager step in to make our stay better. Plus, they speak English, which was really helpful.

This 5 star hotel has no swimming pool. The room is quite cramped even though it’s a 68 mt sq. room. Located in a rundown area.

For a Kempinski breakfast was not up to standard ( apart from the fact that i asked in advance not to be charged for when not using it and this was not accepted . Rooms look bigger in pictures and furniture a bit dated .

Everything, the studio was beautiful, perfectly decorated, complete with big fridge, microwave and Coffee machine. Stylish in every way. Staff was english speaking with perfect manners, the best we had in Shanghai.

1) The kitchen is small but the main problem is the cabinet has almost no place to put plates and bowls. In fact these were not provided and had to request for some basic utensils. If there is a kitchen I would expect that a minimum of 2 plates and 2 bowls are already placed in the kitchen cabinet. Also no table cloth to wipe table no dishwashing detergent and no basic pots and pans to use for cooking if need to. Had to request. No laundry detergent but had to request before these are provided. 2) Service staff apart from 1 front desk lady who is very nice and friendly the rest of the staff are rather stiff and certainly not friendly . Seem hurried perhaps wanting to show they are efficient but certainly cold and unfriendly . The toilet cleaning feature was not working and the service guy attitude is rather aloof and initially insisting that it was working. Generally the hotel service personnel are really one of the more unfriendly ones I have encountered for a 5 star hotel. 3) I ordered breakfast to room, it was not clear on the menu on what it covers and room service has no patient to explain . When delivered there was no salt and pepper provided. 4) Food quality is well below its price tag. 5) My husband was caught inside the front swirling door as if won’t continue to rotate , the staff couldn’t find how to make it work, my husband realized that it was their hanging decor that were caught in the swirling door n managed to remove it n the door moved to open again. The staff who was helping had no emotions and would have been nice if he at least give a courtesy apology. It’s a small matter but it shows that the service attitude is somewhat lacking

Booked Art decor room only to find it too cluttered due to its layout. Wanted to change to bigger room, front desk was quick to give us a free upgrade instead. Much appreciated. Bed is comfortable n sofa is comfortable. Great to have a washing machine (although this was not mentioned in Booking.com website, and almost decided not to chose hotel because we need a place with washing machine quite desperately as we had been travelling across cities for 2 weeks) Some nice but upmarket restaurants within 1 min walk. 7-11 just across hotel so it’s convenient to stock up some quick snacks and drinks . Needed to extend stay but had to rush off for meeting and front desk is quick to reassure us to do it when we return to hotel and will keep at the same rate as what we paid for at Booking.

At reseption was a woman from Germany, Carolin, who helped us alot with good english. She is very nice and knew everything. Had to change the room twice. Got different room, what pictures showed, another had problems with wifi. But every time we got 10 squaremeters bigger room. Very stylish.

Communicating with staff through the app did not work as questions were not answered. But when calling or asking at the front desk all was fine. Would be great if there was a bar open late evening at the hotel. That was missing.

The breakfast is very nice! I love the wonton noodle. The room and the bed are so comfortable. We spent 2 nights here and my daughter really loved this hotel so that she does want to stay again next time!
