Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Everything! This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Beautifully designed with a real modern flair that stands it apart from the run of the mill corporate feel of so many hotels. Spotlessly clean and the attention to detail is outstanding. From lovely glass tumblers in the room as opposed to the ubiquitous plastic water bottle, to the drinks station on each floor where you can help yourself to tea, coffee, fruits and on tap sparkling or still water which you can decant into a glass carafe and take into your room. The breakfast choice is wide and delicious. Recommend the scrambled eggs which are so easy to get wrong in a hotel- superb! The staff are polite, welcoming and efficient. The hotel also provides a free travel card for use on all public transport in Basel during your stay. All in all, a must stay hotel.

United KingdomThe local church bells ring the time all the night!... Makesure you ask for a room on the other side of the hotel if you are a light sleeper!
The room was huge and lovely furnishings etc. Coffee/tea making on each floor as well as fresh water and fruit. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful.

United StatesI wasn’t wild about the restaurant. The hostess was pretty rude and said I could only have one course because of booking but it was less than 1/4 full by the time I left. I thought the food was so-so.
The design of this hotel was gorgeous. the pictures don’t do it justice because the texture of materials and use of wood made it extra special. it was a delightful room.

United StatesWe stayed in a Corner Room. Oddly there is a porthole window on the bathroom door making for potentially awkward encounters if you are not staying there alone. Also, you could hear water dripping in the bathroom above but I don’t know where it’s was going. 1st floor is loud in the morning if you are facing the ally way.
Very stylish rooms in a beautiful historical building. The staff were lovely and helpful. I would definitely stay there again just not in the same room type.

Stunning hotel in the perfect location in Basel. Staff we exceptionally cool and nice, especially the Romanian gentleman at the front desk! Beautiful cozy room with impeccable design, great little mini bar and gorgeous bathroom with the BEST hairdryer I've ever used in a hotel. Big bonus for the lady that comes around to your room with the bar cart offering drinks. Very nice touch. We didn't have an issue with noise as others may have mentioned - our room faced the courtyard and while we were there on a Saturday night, it wasn't rowdy. Can't fault the place, with little extra touches that make it special.
