Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe rail in the wardrobe was fixed to high at approx.8.00foot or 2.5 metres.this is a potential health risk I was straining at full stretch to reach, how smaller guests managed without muscle/back problems I have no idea
Excellent selection helpful staff Room was well equipped and the cleaning staff were very good Sorry I did not realise that you required a novel

AustraliaThe room was run down and the bathroom needs renovating. Stepping over the large bath for a shower not good. Despite asking for a high floor we were given the lowest floor despite booking months in advance.
Perfect location close to train station. We had a glimpse of the lake which was nice. Close to everything. Staff were friendly. Great breakfast

United KingdomWe were initially given the wrong room. We had paid for a suite but were allocated a double room and, when we queried this, the staff did not appear to know what type of room it was. (This may have been because the room is wrongly attributed on their computer.) However, when one of them accompanied us to the room, they very quickly realised the problem and we were immediately given the correct room type. Although the room was very nice, we did not feel that it was as large as we were expecting and felt that it was very expensive for what we got (although to be fair, Switzerland IS very expensive and Luzern is an incredibly popular place for people to visit.)
We arrived in Luzern by train (and sadly in the rain) but the Hotel Monopol is literally across the road from the station and so reached in a couple of minutes. It is also very close to the bus station and the ferry departure point and so the location is absolutely excellent for getting around. There are lots of restaurants within very easy walking distance. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed, reasonable pillows (Swiss pillows in our experience tend to look good but collapse as soon as you put your head on them), sockets beside the bed, including USB and a very nice bathroom with a really good sized bath and a separate shower. There was a sofa and two chairs in the sitting area. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast buffet was good.

IndiaThe only thing I'd change about the room is I'd put the laptop safety locker on a higher level in the cupboard. It's currently placed at the bottom of the cupboard and was a bit difficult for my parents to bend down to access it. Other than that, the elevator is a small one, but really fast, so one never really has to wait for more than a couple of minutes.
The reception staff, each and everyone of them was absolutely brilliant. They are the ones that make the hotel what it is. It's a big hotel, yet has a boutique hotel warmth to it. The room was lovely and the housekeeping staff did a fantastic job on a daily basis. The bathrooms has two sinks (his and her), which was absolutely great. Plus the bathroom generally was an above average size. Also, we really appreciated that they have a microwave in the common area for guests to use. Breakfast was pretty good. Not very elaborate, but well worth it. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh tea and coffee counter, sausages, fruits and cheese along with great croissants/breads on a daily basis. Oh , back to the rooms, the beds were fantastic and very comfortable. The staff was also courteous enough to lend an umbrella to my brother when he was stepping out at night to go to a nearby bar. Also, location. You can't can for a better location in Lucerne than Monopol. Train station/ bus stand/ the lake.. everything is right outside the hotel.

Thailand-Internet signal from Hote's Wifi was VERY VERY LOW, I have to drag the chair to sit next to the door to get stronger signal. Sometime, I have to open the door to get a signal too. Things got worse when I ask the staff to solve the problem but nothing happended except the excuse from staff who said "todaywe have a problem with internet connection". and gave me some buy 1 get 1 drink voucher (Which I don't want at all) However, the signal around the frontdesk was always very very strong everytime I came to Front Desk. So I think it is not about Wifi's technical problem and the hotel should do something better than this! -Outside my room there is a hotel's spotlight located next to the window. at 1st night the spotlight opened at night and its light was so strong that even I closed all the curtain, the light still came through and I could not sleep until the spotlight turned off automatically (I can't remember the exact time but it was after midnight). Next morning I asked front desk to do something, they listened and on 2nd night, the hotel installed a thick curtain on my window which spotlight could not pierce through. This was very good, I thank you for that....However, on 3rd night that thick curtain has been removed, I was so shocked when I came back to my room because I did not ask the hotel to took it out until my check out!!! So these were my disappointment and made me decided not to stay in this hotel again in the future. :(

SingaporeThe room was a little dated. One of the elevators was out of service during our stay. Nothing major, would definitely recommend a stay there.
The location was brilliant, right beside the train station and of course Lake Lucerne. Everything was accessible and within walking distance. What stood out was the reception. Me and my friend, we were welcomed warmly by Mr Khai, who greeted us in our home language. We felt welcome right from the start. He offered us great recommendations of the sights and sounds of the city and halal options available in the town. The room also had a great view overlooking the lake. Overall a great stay!
