Room was a bit outdated and had minimal amenities. But the views and breakfast were top notch and made up for it.

I was relieved to arrive in this wonderful hotel after a week of hiking across the Alps. Good bathroom and very good view over Grindelwald from the open terrace that you can hang out in.

The views were spectacular because the property was so high, but you had to be really good shape to get them there. I love the place though. I was just a bit of a hike to get up to the room.

Nothing actually. It is little bit up hill but manageable.

Very nice little hotel in the mountains with great rooms. Our had balcony. We mostly did communication with stuff via WhatsApp and all worked very well. Breakfast was amazing. They have nice mini bar in common space where you can serve yourself any time and pay at check out.

A portable fan would be excellent to combat the summer’s heat.

Booked a room with the balcony. My room is greeted with the view of the majestic Mount Eiger. Simply the best view i could ask for in Grindelwald. The staffs are friendly and excellent. I will definitely book the hotel again when i’m staying in Grindelwald.

No one at reception most of the time - they left the keys out but provided no info on where my room was so I ended up going up and down stairs until I figured out I was in another building Steep hill up to hotel - would be nice if path were smoother for roller suitcases Small room though it was just me, so not a big deal

We had to carry our baggage’s all the way UP the steep slope which was back breaking. There were no fans available and two days evening was quite hot.

The view from the hotel lounge and breakfast table was excellent with the view of the Alps at its finest.

The walk up to the hotel (and then up to the room in the second building) was more difficult than expected especially with large suitcases. Not the most easily accessible, so be prepared if you have physical limitations.

The view from our private balcony was incredible, as were the grounds with a mini-greenhouse (which we used to admire the views when it rained) and lounge chairs. The breakfast buffet was varied and we could place custom coffee orders which was nice. The location was convenient with a short walk down to the main street of Grindelwald.

Staff were really friendly and helpful but I found it difficult to find staff at times and given that there would be no one around in the evenings, it would be better if there was cups/dishes/cutlery that would be made available somewhere in the common areas.

Room was a good size and the view was amazing. Bed was comfortable.

The Hotel Sonnenberg was well signposted and easy to find from the Grindelwald train station. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the station which is all uphill and gets steeper closer to the hotel, but this shouldn’t be a problem for anyone with standard fitness. We had a self-service check-in as we arrived after 4pm but this was well organised. We highly recommend booking a double room with a mountain view as the views were spectacular! The room was small with two single beds pushed together, the beds were comfortable and were remade daily. Complimentary coffee pods and hot water were provided. The bathroom has a shower and a bath but the shower area was not very spacious. Breakfast is available from 07:30 and we found there to be a limited choice of options, however a couple of croissants and a cup of tea was a fair start to the day. There's about a 5-10 minute downhill walk to the main street, although uphill on the way back. Overall good value for money and the views from the hotel were just incredible.

The fire escape as it give easy access for burglary when leaving the windows ajar!

Simple, but functional. Great location. Except for the tweaking stairs. Did leave the car in Wilderswil, as it is located a stone throw away from the train station.

My stay at Sonnenber was wonderful. The check-in process was a breeze, thanks to the flexibility of the property manager. Do prepare yourself for a bit of a climb, as the hotel is situated on a hill - but then again, this is the Alps, and the hills are all part of the adventure! The property itself was stunning, and I was greeted each morning with a lovely breakfast. While it's true that most rooms are a bit on the narrow side, there are more spacious rooms available in the off-property side lodging. Regardless of where you stay, you're guaranteed a stunning view. All in all, a memorable stay!

There was a strong, dusty smell in the room when we opened the door! But it can be solved by opening the window and balcony door. There is no AC in the room, but we did not need it because it was still very chilly when we visited.

The staff was friendly, and I think we were greeted by the owner. They explained the hotel to us in detail. We felt welcomed. Although we almost passed out walking up to the hotel with our luggages, the view from our room with the balcony was totally worth it. Great breakfast, we enjoyed it very much. If I bring my family to visit Grindelwald again, I will consider booking this hotel again.

The communication were awful - they didn't answer for weeks.. The climb to the hotel is steep

Amazing place, I used the lounge to work remotely - spent days in this cozy place. Views are astonishing, breakfast is wonderful. Location is great. Will totally come again.
