Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesWe had a wonderful stay. The hotel was right in the middle of the old town, close to everything. The only minor issue we had with the automated checkin was that we created two card keys. This first card key opened the room door for the first time, then stopped working. The second card key kept working. We tried to cut a third key but it would not allow us. Not very important, but it would be convenient for both of us to have their own key. Thank you for the service.

United StatesThe bathroom clearly wasn’t refilled - toilet paper that was hanging was almost over (not replaced from the previous guest) and the body wash in the shower was empty. The hotel didn’t let me leave my luggage before check-in (apparently they don’t do it on Sunday’s).
Location is great. Instructions were clear and the room was clean. Check-in/check-out was smooth and fast.

United StatesI prefer better advance directions for remote check in. Door code, where check in is ( 2nd level in hall) put keys on black box to activate etc.
Liked frig in hallway with beverages. Check in process was confusing as I did not get a code to get in the door before we arrived . Someone had to show me how to check in unaccompanied.

United StatesThe windows had some plexiglass (most likely for safety reasons), but this made it hard to get air in on hot days. We were able to place the fan above the glass to get some extra air in though.
Overall a great experience! The room was perfect for being out and about all day. The staff which I didn't see (there is a very easy self check in) was very helpful via email. Everything was clean and they offered some free refreshments on one of the floors. It was a little bit of a walk to the train station, but not terrible.

BermudaMost hotel showers I've found are a little odd for keeping the water in the shower which can cause some minor flooding of the bathroom if there is no door on the end.
The location was great, quick access to restaurants, cafes and public transportation as well as some of the historic sights. The hotel/room itself was clean and comfortable, plenty of space for 3 people.

PortugalStaff were very pleasant but stretched thin...this meant waiting around at check-in and checkout for someone to turn up. I even took delivery of some smoked fish for the restaurant and found a fridge for it, because there were no staff about to take it. It's not a big deal if you are not pushed for time, but it could be a problem if you are in a hurry and have to catch a plane. Also, there's no aircon, and with temperatures in the mid-30s outside, a little cooling would have been welcome - but in such a historic building air-conditioning would probably have been impossible to fit.
Location excellent, character of the hotel very pleasing - a smart modern makeover of an inn with hundreds of years of history. Quiet square within a few metres of the riverside.

United KingdomI acknowledge that this issue was partly my fault, but our room lacked air conditioning. We paid over £400 for a family room, and I genuinely expected it to include standard amenities like air conditioning. I understand that the historical nature of the building makes installing air conditioning difficult. However, the room didn't even have a fridge, leaving us no way to store our baby's milk. The room was only equipped with two small fans, which barely made a difference in the heat. This stay was part of a road trip across Europe, with plans to stay overnight in Lucerne before continuing to Belgium the next day. However, the room was unbearably hot, feeling like a sauna, and our two-year-old twins were inconsolable, crying non-stop. We had no choice but to leave the room and continue our trip at 11 PM. When I booked the room, I clearly mentioned that we had two babies with us. The least I expected was for the hotel to inform us about the lack of air conditioning.
The hotel is situated in a pleasant area, near the town center and away from busy roads. It was clean, and the room was incredibly spacious, with modern and minimal furniture. The online checking and checkout was very easy to follow and saved us a lot of time.

United StatesThe comfort of the room was affected by two factors: number one, no air-conditioning. I know this is Switzerland, but global warming has made air air conditioning necessary even in places that didn't use to need it. As a result, we were sweltering, and the fan in the room is woefully inadequate. Number two: the bell towers nearby go off at all hours, day and night (and early morning). Not the hotel's fault, but something to know. The fans didn't cut that, either.
We work online and need strong Internet. Once we got there, it was clear that the Internet wasn't going to work very well. We even brought our own Starlink satellite just in case. But it wasn't working in our room. However, I reached out to the staff and they put us in a room with a clear view of the sky and a router right next to our door. It made all the difference. Excellent response!

United StatesThe fan in the room needs to be replaced. I was able to tighten the fan on to the motor enough for it to work but if you bump it, it falls apart and won't work. For a hotel with no AC would recommend you check all fans are working.

Great location and easily accessible. Rooms are clean and modern while the building maintains its charm. There is good communication throughout the stay, with most things being done online.
