Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe liked everything - we are 100% booking this B&B again if we are again in Basel.
Spacious, quiet, clean room with lots of comforts. We were self catering and managed to make a couple of nice meals in the room thanks to the fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, and provided cutlery, plates etc. Friendly owners who get out of their way to help. Good location in a quiet residential area, a couple of minutes from the river and an easy 20ish minutes walk to the centre of town.

SpainA bit noisy - you can hear the other guests if they are being a bit loud, plus the church bells. Nothing disruptive, though
Very comfortable room and super clean. Nicole was very friendly, helpful and flexible.

United KingdomThe host (Nicole) was fantastic. When we had a minor emergency, she was very helpful, as well as making us welcome throughout our stay. The information pack she provided was comprehensive, and she arranged our free Basel transport pass on arrival. The apartment is well equipped and in an excellent location. It is a 5 minute walk to the banks of the Rhine, 2 minutes from a well stocked supermarket and 10 minutes to the tram stop to get into the city centre. The Basel transport system is superb. Overall, a great stay. Thank you Nicole.

AustraliaThe wifi was poor
We just had an overnight stay before a river cruise. We chose this location for the reasonable price and good access to transport to get to the cruise port at St Johannpark. Just a short bus then tram ride to arrive at the port. The room was comfortable and had a nice view to the beautiful garden complete with pet rabbits. It is in a suburban location with a couple of eateries a short walk away and a coop for groceries. Our room was connected to a shared kitchen with washing machine which would be handy for a longer stay. Check in time is late - from 4pm. Breakfast is extra which I think is a bit misleading with the title of bed and breakfast as most B&Bs provide some options such as cereal or toast. A coffee machine and tea is provided. Hosts were courteous and provided information and map of the local area with bus/tram connections. The hosts are not always on site but contactable if needed.

NetherlandsPillows were very soft, practically non-existent neck-support. During the heat wave, it was very warm in the room. Airco would have been a great improvement, making the rating a 9 instead of 8.
Fully equipped kitchen. It helped we didn't have to share it with other guests. Easy access to city center. Free parking pass and public transportation pass. Friendly owner, giving a lot of information useful for visiting Basel.

United StatesNo elevator, but our room was only up one flight of stairs.
Room was average size for a European property. Big enough to get around, but not tiny like some. Room was adjacent to a kitchen area where we had access to a coffee maker and stove if we wanted to cook. There was even a washing machine available. Plenty of windows and shades for sun and temperature control. Walking distance to a Migros grocery store and public transportation. Room was quiet and clean and situated in a residential area. For those embarking on a Rhine River cruise, the B&B was a short cab ride to the ship pier.

United StatesThe upgraded side of the unit had all the amenities. (Sink, microwave, stove, & laundry). I would suggest having at least a mini sink and microwave built into the smaller unit. We stayed there 3 days, ate in 2 times. The unit was supplied with dishes, glasses etc. BUT we had to wash the dishes in the bathroom sink.
I loved walking through the garden and playing with the rabbits. The owners were very friendly and it was close to the grocery store, food and bus pickup. The owners also provided us with bus passes for the entire time we were there. An extra bonus we did not expect.

United KingdomI couldn't be happier with my stay at Niros. It's only a 20-30 minute walk into the old city along a beautiful park and the river. The owners are wonderful and give guests their own space. The beds were super comfortable. The room was the best equipped we've ever encountered. And there were the added bonus of the bunnies on the lawn outside. Perfect 10 out of 10.

The owner Nicole was super kind and helpfully. She prepared a lots of usefull things for us such as maps of the city, timetibles of public transport etc, she explained us everything... The location of accommodation is fantastic! Quitly and safe dostrict with good public transportation to the city, but also it is just about 30-45 mins by walking along the river, on the beautiful promenade... Equipment of the accommodation was also satisfing - everything what you need. Also tea, coffee, sugar... And cleanliness everywhere. I definitelly can recommend this place!

AustraliaOwner Nicolle said the air conditioner was not connected (it was just for appearance)..in my opinion it looked ok, not old but no controller was in the room so I couldn't test it. When I asked the host she said it was not connected. Which I didn't believe.. so sweated it out for a few nights.. so I would not recommend this B&B during summer months... also family lives downstairs and in room next door... the stairs creaked and I was worried about disturbing them.. not an enjoyable experience. Feather down pillows which go flat as soon as you put your head on them... luckily I could prop them up with the towels.
Location was fine

United StatesThis isn't a B&B as advertised, since breakfast is not included. If you want breakfast, it will cost you $14 more per person, per day, and the owner clearly doesn't want to be bothered. When I asked what the breakfast would be, she couldn't answer, and when I suggested fresh fruit, she just shook her head no. So, something reluctantly made that she would bring over on a tray and leave. Also, this is not Basel, it's a suburb, so you won't get any discounts that you get when you stay in the city itself. The room is one they made in the garage. It's clean, etc., but it's very small. With the beds 6" apart, the outside door hits one when you open it, and the bathroom door hits the other. It just wasn't very welcoming. The owner really doesn't want you inside her house, so earlier reviews where there were multiple people staying in the house seem odd. This room won't fit more than one or two people, period. Next time, I would just pay a little extra and stay in the city.
It was quiet at night. The room darkening shades were good for sleeping. You get a pass for transportation (but you won't get discounts in the city with it because you're outside Basel).
