Shame the outdoor terrace was covered over with an awning - it would have been a nice place to sit for a drink.

Easy booking process and easy to find#, great location a brief drive from the shore of the lake, close to the rotthorn bahn. Friendly check-in. Room was as described, but i did think it might have been worth paying the extra for a balcony room as the view from our room -19- was of half of the roofs below and to the side, but it was a lakeview :-) Breakfast was fresh pastries, cheese and meats and self serve hot and cold drinks. Unexpectedly there is a swimming pool and sauna to use and you can also book a hot-tub which is out in the gardens. We ate in Brienz so can't comment on the restaurant. There was an honest bar for snacks, beers, wine at fair prices, but the co-op is a very short distance away but does close early (20:00)

The breakfast is basic but ok. Good coffee. Cleaning staff are not friendly. Some refurbishment is needed. Carpet with stains and curtains incl. in bath can use upgrade.

The area is beautiful. The girl at the reception named Joy is really a Joy to have around.

The apartment was basic and dated, though clean. It needed more kitchen equipment as there was only one bowl, no tin opener, sieve, or bottle opener, only 1 bowl, etc. A kitchen cupboard door was falling off and only 1 ring out of 2 on the hob worked.

Lovely location, very helpful staff, clean and ok value for money. Nice breakfast and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant.

Despite the beautiful setting, this is a three star hotel, and the food and other amenities reflect that One woman at the front desk was borderline rude Having said that we still totally enjoyed our stay There was a huge bathtub in the room Which I enjoyed, but my husband found it difficult to shower from kneeling position

We did not have a nice view of the lake to the rooms. For the travelers on foot with luggage, it is a 12-15 minute walk.

our family room should have had blackout curtains. A roof window wasn't covered and was bringing in light directly to everyone's bed. Kids sleep best when it is dark... some piece was cut out of our carpet. There was a stubbed out cigarette but in the window in one of the changing rooms, lots of smokers outside where we entered the main building, always smelled of smoke.

I didn't like the bathroom since the water spilt out from the bath while having a shower, and it is really dangerous and slippy. Also, I didn't like the cleanliness of the room. We found a lot of dust everywhere in the room. I didn't like that there wasn't a mirror in the room, only in the bathroom. Also, the lighting is really weak in the room. And there isn't air conditioning. It was really hot in the room.

I liked the old feel of the hotel. I also liked the surroundings of the hotel. There is a lot of nature around. I also liked the breakfast and the view from the hotel.

Nice hotel with very easy access. Located above the city and lake the views are stunning. Recommendation to travel across the lake on historic vessel with many other cultural spots close by.

It was a great experience, however there are some opportunity areas... Like the breakfast or more specific rules about the pool... Like the exact opening times and placing more info so other guests respect the privacy rules.

Breakfast was limited & repeated each day. Furniture was little bit aged & bath rooms flooring didn't have any drainage. I didn't like the idea of making me signing on a list of fines to be implemented if we break any of their terms. Nevertheless other than this all was good

When we arrived in Brienz (by train) we tried to contact the hotel to arrange a pick-up, which is a service they offer, but unfortunately our message was not received and the phone was not answered so we had to pay 60CHF to a local taxi man. There was an apology from the hotel but no offer of compensation. If you are arriving by public transport try to contact them the day before. Alternatively be prepared for an uphill hike! Breakfast was slightly chaotic as there seemed to be a staff shortage and we had to clear tables before we could sit down. That said, the food was delicious and plentiful so we aren't complaining!

We had three ’superior' rooms, each with balcony, but two of the rooms were adjacent and had a balcony running across both rooms which allowed us all to sit together in the evening and watch the thunder storms rattle round the mountains! In the mornings we watched the steam trains working hard up the Rothorn Bahn. Wonderful!! The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms spacious; the bathrooms excellent with powerful showers and the fridge and kettle in each room was much appreciated. Evening meals were all very good (if a little pricey) with plenty of choice and good service.
