Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaLower the bathroom mirror. Good to know: there are some stairs to navigate your luggage up, before you get to the elevators.
The staff were so friendly and accomodating. The room was as expected from my online research. It was clean, beds were comfortable, there was enough lighting and electrical outlets. The bathroom mirror is hung very high - a bit of an inconvenience for my 5 foot (152 cm) height, but there was another mirror in the room. Breakfast was great; dinner in the restaurant was very good. Loved the location. Niederdorf is right there, and wonderful to wander through with resaturants, cafes and shops. The street noise did not bother us, but might bother some.

United StatesWe have stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years. It is conveniently located within walking distance of the train station and offers easy access to Tram #10 to/from Zurich Airport. The room we stayed in this time was newly renovated and furnished, which we really appreciated. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the staff was very welcoming. We will definitely return again.

United StatesTraffic noise in warm weather.
Perfect location and good value. Nice, clean and well run. No a/c and loud traffic out back, so if it’s during a warm time of the year, be pared for a lot of road noise when you open the window to keep cool.

United StatesLike many Swiss hotels, it has no AC, though they provided us a little fan and we came in September. The beds only have one pillow, but you can simply ask for one extra and they will provide it. Double verify you booked a room with two beds if you book on Booking.com - you must list your desire for a double room additionally as a preference on top of your other selection. I would recommend this was made a little more obvious for people booking online.
Super convenient location, right next to the train station, the old town, and the Coop supermarket. The staff were very helpful. We were concerned we lost a passport after we had to switch rooms quickly. They had two people who searched the room for us. We ultimately found the passport otherwise, but were very grateful for their effort. It is also quite a historic hotel, and I would recommend looking into the history of the location if you are interested.

Australia3 different (9cm)floor levels within the room. The room key is given with a large weight attached and has to be detached to be able to carry the key around comfortably, defeating the purpose.
Very well located a short level walk from Zurich HB station though heavy traffic and trams to negotiate. It is just across the bridge and next to the river. Enter through back of the building to avoid a set of stairs at the front with luggage. Pleasant check in. Entry to upper level room was by small and somewhat antiquated lift but no real problem. A pleasant no frills room, very clean and bright with a great view across the road and trams, to over the bridge and river toward Zurich HB. Some tram noise in day time not disturbing but is very quite later in the night Great many restaurants/food shops within minutes including nice well stocked Coop super market just back across the bridge. Tram stops are just outside. A nice hotel breakfast is available in breakfast room. An independent restaurant is also on the premises.

United KingdomThe lack of proper coffee or instant coffee facilities in room. The street noise and light in the morning - this is not a good place for a light sleeper. The sockets are designed so it is hard for foreign adaptors and we could not charge our phones.
The friendly welcome - even at 1am - and flexibility of the staff from check out time and bag storage (not that we used either). Comfy bed and lovely, if basic, toiletries.

PhilippinesA couple of things affected my rating of this hotel: First, there is no AC. This is i think the number one complaint of all guests, based on the reviews. It was quite hot during our first night and it was uncomfortable. The weather improved during the rest of our stay so this became less of an issue. The hotel during summer would probably be more uncomfortable. There was a small fan provided but it honestly wasnt enough. Second, there was no fridge in the room so you cannot have cold drinks in the room (unless you buy them before you come back to the hotel). Third, there was not closet where you can hang your clothes. Although there were a number of hangers provided, you have to hang them on the wall, which really can get messy if you hang multiple items. But there is a small cabinet where you can put your folded cothes. Fourth, there is no kettle in the room. But there is coffee and tea in the reception. Fifth, we stayed for 10 nights and our beddings were changed only once.
The location of the hotel is its best attribute. It is a 5 minute walk from Zurich HB and less than a minute from the Central tram/bus stop. There are also a lot of good restaurants nearby, with a nice patisserie a couple of meters from the Hotel entrance (not the Starbucks which is also a few steps from the hotel entrance). Staff at the reception were polite and courteous, and check in was a breeze. Coffee is also provided near the reception and there is a nice small room where you can sit while waiting for your train/flight (or maybe if you arrive early and your room isnt ready yet). Room was cleaned and towels were replenished everyday. I also like that there were umbrellas which you can borrow from the reception (given Zurich’s weather).
