Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesMy son is very tall and the bed was a little short for him but that’s the case most places we go.
The food was incredible! The restaurant staff didn’t speak English but we had fun using the translate ap on my phone. They were very patient and some of our transactions were very comical

United KingdomThe room was smaller than expected. It didn't include any facilities for drinks like a fridge or kettle. The river was actually so loud it might bother you if things like that affect your sleep. Switzerland is expensive these days! But that isn't the fault if this gite,
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The property and my room were warm - almost too warm! The location, by the main road to the Grand St Bernard pass, was busy but I didn't hear it from the room. It made access to the gite extremely convenient and just 90 mins or so from Geneva. If you don't care about nightlife, it makes a great base for the 4 valleys being just 10 mins from Le Chable gondola. For dinner, the restaurant was very nice serving various steaks and grilled meat along with some alpine classics. The room was basic but nicely finished with a good shower and modern fittings. I was never cold! Free parking right outside the front door. Situated in a deep valley directly next to a bubbling stream.

SwitzerlandBreakfast was not buffet but we were not informed of that at the time of reserving breakfast. So the children were quite disappointed when they got a plate with things they didn't like... but no big deal.
Room was very cosy in Alpine style. Nice view to the river nearby.

CanadaThe listing mentions single or double beds but staff confirmed they had no double beds at all in the place. No problem sleeping in single bed but description is misleading. Also, they do not provide hand soap. I asked residents and they said it’s not acceptable for that kind of place.
Good location on the Via Francigena. The restaurant experience was very good. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

ItalyWe were four friends on a bike tour. The staff were very kind and let us store our bikes on the inside as one of us needed to use a power outlet to charge an e-bike. Dinner was excellent with the 'Charbonnade', Highly recommended. Pricey but perfectly in line with Swiss standards,

BelgiumBreakfast was just ok but no more than that. There could have been more variety in the bread, good croissants but stale white bread. The room lacked a chair to sit on.

United KingdomMy room was suitable for me being a lone traveller. the Restaurant menu was very good and they have a comfortable outdoor area if preferred. Being Switzerland the cost of meals in the restaurant were higher than expected but it was my choice to stay within Switzerland.

SwitzerlandHand soap in the room would be nice. Otherwise, everything was very good!
We stayed at La Catogne after planning last minute to do some skiing in Verbier. La Catogne was a short drive away from the La Chable list, which is very convenient. The hotel rooms are simple but comfortable. The staff is very nice. The restaurant was a winner. We had originally only planned to eat there our first night but the food and service were excellent, so we ate their both nights. It is a bit off the beaten path, but made a great home base for Verbier skiing.

SwitzerlandJust a bit isolated, it's hard to walk to the nearest village for a restaurant. But the restaurant at the hotel is excellent, so you don't need to.
The cleanliness, the restaurant and the breakfast. We had a nice room watching a creek, where the only noise was the water. Hiking roads all around,

SwitzerlandAt check-in we were given a twin room despite booking a double, upon asking we were switched to a double. The cupboard in our room (12) had broken handles that would be a cheap and easy fix. One of the bedside lights had no bulb. One side of the slat bed fell out of the bed frame on the second night... We were able to put it back but you don`t expect beds to collapse when just lying in them, it wasn`t even Valentines day! I left my plug and charging cable behind & emailed the hotel, however it`s more than 24 hours later & I have not had a response.
As Verbier was jammed this was one of the next closest places to stay for a couple of nights, a 20 min drive from Verbier village. It`s an older building, and probably not seen much in the way of renovation for many years, but with nice woodwork and warmth. Everything was tidy and clean in our experience, and much of the interior decor has nods to its past which makes it all quite authentic and interesting. The hotel restaurant provided good food, and service was quick and friendly, and prices reasonable. The menu was in French only, and was very meat orientated, with very little selection if you`re vegetarian. There were a couple of basic soap and shampoo sachets in the room, shower was good, and overall it had a nice vibe.
