Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSlightly pricey particularly when compared to UK prices but that may be just Switzerland where everything seems expensive !
Stunning location, opposite a live farm. Great views and superb host.. we stayed here as a quick overnight as part of a European tour. Car is essential as you are staying a long way out of town on the hillside! Great decor and convenient restaurant in house.

NetherlandsSo if you don't come by car, be warned, it can be difficult to get here, and although you can use an Uber to get to the property, they will not come out to get you to get into Basel. Bus and train services are cheap and punctual though so if you're ready for it, it's not much of a problem, The bus services do take a while though and stop around 9 pm and only run once every hour on Sundays and public holidays. So if you're going to be visiting Basel you may not want to stay out too late. Once you get back there is not that much to do around the property though plenty of people do go hiking. If that's not your jam, the web site advertises bikes for hire but none were available when we were there and as one of us is not able to walk great distances, it ruled out local activities like hiking. There is no air conditioning in the rooms but honestly it wasn't a deal breaker and we didn't miss it despite the heat. Finally, there is no Reception as such so you're going to want to save that number on the front door to be able to find your hosts. They're usually in the restaurant but we've had a couple of times when they were hard to find. Oh and if we could have our ideal stay, the breakfast would have a few more options and would be bookable along with the room. In case you're wondering about that construction site next to the place, don't worry, we couldn't hear them at all and actually forgot they were there altogether.
The property offers beautiful, spacious rooms that are very inviting and kept pristinely clean. The rain showers are great and the beds with massive wooden frames and comfortable mattresses afford you a wonderful night's rest. The rooms at the end of the building sport balconies and open up on gorgeous vistas beyond, and the views are worth the trip. Speaking of which, take your drone if you have one, you won't be disappointed! The Wi-Fi was fast and worked great and the TVs in the rooms are smart TVs and connected to the internet as well so you can watch some Netflix if you want. There is no Reception as such but the staff were very friendly and easygoing and made sure that we felt not only welcome but also relaxed. When one of our party was unable to travel and didn't arrive for a couple more days, they had only charged us of the nights that we had stayed. In the mornings you will find a lovely breakfast waiting for you with fresh local produce, like that you get to cook yourself or the delicious yoghurt from neighbouring farms complete with freshly baked bread rolls and preserves. The restaurant is also definitely worth visiting and has some of the best fish we ever had and also a cosy ambiance.

the place is in the wonderful Swiss countryside, few km away from Basel. We arrive at 9 pm and restaurant was still available, with absolute amazing food in a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The room is excellent, we bought the breakfast on spot and the day after we left leaving the key on the mailbox as per instruction.

United StatesSadly the restaurant was closed Mon thru Wed and it’s a long way to go for a snack.
Gorgeous setting in the countryside with nothing but the cows for company. Tasteful comfortable room and a beautiful modern bathroom. This felt like a real find even though our meetings were in Laufen, we were thrilled with the place.
