Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

SwitzerlandFirst, we get a message to tell us that there is no reception for the check in. Once it’s done by internet, we received a message telling us that the door of our room is open and we can get inside whenever we want. That means that other people could come to our room too. Second, when we arrived, the sheets were completely wet. We sent a message and they said that the dryer was out of service. But the entirely bed was wet! After a few hours, someone came to change the sheet, but we didn’t have any place to rest until the person came. Also, the floor was very dirty with somebody else hair. A lot of dust was hiding under the bed. The last thing, the bed slat was completely broken and unorganized, not very comfy. All this for more than hundred for one night.

NorwayThe staff left the location and locked the doors before we arrived. Fair enough, we arrived after their stated check-in time, but they knew we had booked the location, had our phone numbers and had the ability to contact us through the Booking.com app - and did none of it. As a result, we had to spend 4 hours in the middle of the night trying to find (and pay for) new accommodation, while our kindergarten age kids were kept awake. Not a good experience at all. Next time, try to contact your missing guests before you lock and leave.

BelgiumI booked this hotel because there were no available hotels during my visit. First of all I should say that building is located on main road, rooms are always noisy until 23:00 (even after sometimes). So if you are a light sleep person, that room wouldn't help your sleep. I had a portable AC in my room, when it runs, it makes a lot of noise so I preferred to don't use but open the windows, which makes my stay quite noisy during my stay. Daily cleaning was poor, it was mainly changing the sheets and replacing towels. I often found the shower not cleaned. An other thing was the wifi: in the building I stayed, I could connect the wifi but it never had internet. So I had to buy a prepaid swiss phone to solve my internet problem. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
