Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was all fabulous
The property is well located in the middle of everything in Zurich. It was easy to find and I loved the feel when we walked in. The staff are amazing and you get a free mini bar plus tea and coffee throughout the day. The breakfast was fantastic.

NigeriaYou may have your reasons why the guests can't iron their clothes in their rooms and have to go to the fourth floor to do so. I like to have my coffee maker in the room rather than going elsewhere to have one.
The ambience is alluring. The atmosphere is exclusive, considering the limited available rooms in the hotel. The staff are very polite and helpful. We missed having our coffee in the room as well as ironing our clothes.

CanadaBreakfast could have had slightly more variety (meats, cheeses), comparing to other similar hotels in Switzerland.
Excellent stay in a central location, close to key viewpoints overlooking Zurich. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful - I happened to be staying during a massive street party outside near the lake, and the staff were keen to ensure minimal noise disrupted my stay (my room was quiet all night). Though slightly small, the twin room was the perfect size for a single traveller, and the breakfast downstairs was tasty.

Italydifficult to access the property by car; getting to and from the public parking garage was difficult; public parking garage was outrageously expensive (not the hotel's fault); they should provide coffee machine in room rather than having to go downstairs to lobby; breakfast options rather limited; bathroom was rather dated.
location was very central; receptionist was very friendly and helpful;

NamibiaGetting to and fro is a bit of a mission if one uses an Uber/some cabs (a special permit is required to drive in that part of town)… best to ask the hotel to arrange transport (this information is also relayed on the hotel’s website so it didn’t come as a surprise). Other than that, I can’t think of anything.
The beds are incredibly comfortable, the restaurant is fabulous and the staff welcoming, helpful and very professional.

United StatesIf you are arriving by car, it's rather difficult. You have to park in a paid public lot, which is a short walk over a steep hill, on cobble stone paving. That would make it really hard to get rolling suitcases to the hotel. To drop your luggage at the door, before you go and park the car, you have to ask the hotel for a special permit, since the area is off limits to cars. It's a very difficult drive through the narrow cobblestone streets, crowded with pedestrians. Second, there was a bad smell from the shower drain. That's unusual for a Swiss city... more common with the questionable plumbing in Italy. We had to close the door to the bathroom and run the fan all night.
Almost everything was excellent. Location on a quiet little street, but right in the heart of the old city. Beautiful surroundings. The room was small but very clean and well appointed, with a very comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice touches like gorgeous books to borrow, as well as bottled mineral water, espresso machine, fruit and cookies in the small lobby are very welcoming.

CanadaOnly negative thing is that my room did not have a small fridge due to the class of my reservation. However, they made up for it by bringing up ice whenever I asked for it.
Fabulous location in the Old Town. Numerous coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants at your footsteps. Great shopping area. Only about 10 minutes to the train station and 15 minutes to coach parking. Staff in the restaurant and front desk extremely courteous and helpful…always a smile on their face. Room and bathroom very clean and made up every day. Air conditioning, which was required during my trip due to the hot weather, worked extremely well. Bottled water was replaced every day in my room. Breakfast was fabulous. Eggs and bacon were cooked fresh as per my order on arrival in the restaurant. Breakfast served in their main restaurant which had great ambience…white tablecloths and candles all over the place. Waitresses and manager made you feel like home. Free at the front desk every day…sweet cherries, nectarines, bottled water and nespresso coffee. Easy on line checkout.

United StatesIt was very warm at night so we opened one of the windows up let in some cool air. Unfortunately, the street outside was very noisy so we had to shut it.
Everything about this hotel was excellent. It was pricier, but very classy, cozy and comfortable. The staff was excellent and made our short overnight stay very comfortable. I would definitely recommend it for all these reasons and the location as well as it was a 5 min walk to the center of town and the river.
