Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWasn't sure how we would feel about being above the train tracks. At first the sounds of the trains were quite noticible, but after some time, it blended into the ambiance of the area. I almost missed the sound when we left. We loved watching the trains chug up and down the hill. It was so very storybook-like. So there was really nothing we didn't like.
Loved staying at this apartment! It was spacious with a small kitchen, living room, and bedroom, plus it had a huge balcony with beyond incredible views! My first comment was "it is so clean and tidy"! We stayed in Wengen 5 nights and choose this place because and wanted to be able to cook and do laundry. Our host, Claire, was quite gracious and provided pretty much anything we needed. There was laundry soap, lotion, shampoo, etc... a very well stocked kitchen, and she also provided 2 sets of hiking poles and umbrellas. I've never stayed anywhere that provided such an assortment of "niceties". The location of the apartment was not far from the train station and Claire's directions were excellent. It really was a short walk. There is a nice little hill to walk up and down everyday, but that is pretty consistent with everywhere we went. I am so glad we choose Wengen for our stay over the bigger towns like Grindelwald. Wengen is such a quaint and happy village with the most incredible views with very easy in and out train transportation. We felt very fortunate to be there when the cows come down from the hills with their flowers and bells. It was magical, as was our entire stay!

SwitzerlandFrom the moment we arrived at the apartment, we were greeted by the stunning views from the balcony. As well as being beautiully decorated, we also found the facilties very good. Including the fact that the kitchen has some store cupboard items. A lovely touch was the bottle of prosecco in the fridge. We found the owner Clare very friendly and helpful. We received informative arrival instuctions before we arrived, and also information on events happening in Wengen. This beautiful Chalet is in a stunning location and an excellent base for fantastic hikes in the area. We would most certainly stay at Chalet Aberot again.

United StatesClare was a very gracious host and the chalet has all of the amenities you could want (espresso/coffee, tea, dishwasher, washing machine, hairdryer, fridge (and freezer with ice cube tray!). The views are magical and although the train runs right below the deck, we didn't even notice it after awhile and couldn't hear it in the bedroom while sleeping. We felt so at home that we ate in most nights as the views couldn't be beat! It's jsut a short walk from the train station and main street/grocery/bakery/tourist info office. Thank you, Clare, for a most wonderful and relaxing stay!

United StatesOne reason we booked this was for laundry, but it's worth knowing that the laundry machine is extremely small, so it's better to do loads as you go rather than wait till the end of your stay. Also, we found that the dryer didn't really work, so don't plan to do laundry right at the end. There was a rack to hang clothes to dry, which was very helpful; you just need to plan the time for that in advance.
The view from this apartment is absolutely incredible. It's right on the edge of Wengen, so there are no buildings blocking the view. The location was pretty convenient, and the apartment was spacious with a fully stocked kitchen. It was great to be able to prepare our own breakfast and dinner--there's a Coop grocery story right by the train station.
