Overpriced- I stayed in the shared rooms Cold- the shared rooms where colder inside than out Communication- information regarding road and shuttles were sent after you booked with no cancellation. It would be good if this was on the website Staff- unfortunately one staff member is not welcoming, however don’t think this ruin your stay

Was cool to be staying in this remote location. Everything was clean, however I stayed here at the end of season and so it wasn’t busy. Only 2 bathrooms for the entire place

One significant drawback of my stay was the lack of information provided about the route to the hotel in the initial offer. It was only after making the booking that I learned about the need to use a private road, which incurred an additional cost of 30 Swiss Francs. This additional expense should have been clearly communicated upfront. My interaction with the staff, particularly what seemed to be the main lady, was disappointing. Despite speaking Swiss German, we had communication issues due to dialect differences. Unfortunately, she appeared unfriendly when I struggled to understand her dialect, making the experience uncomfortable and unexpected.

The location was just amazing, deep in the valley, very close to nature. The breakfast was lovely with a big selection of fresh food. I had a very positive experience with one staff member, a waitress from Brazil. She was exceptionally kind and caring.

For the money they charge per night, I think they should provide their customers with proper mattresses.

Probably the best location of any hotel we ever been too, absolutely stunning surroundings. Don’t let stories about the difficult road there put you off, we drive a Vito van and it went up there perfectly fine. The staff were very kind and the food was great

Staff is rude. She can have little bit of patience. We struggled to pay our invoice due to poor card readers /no proper wifi at least for hotel staff.

Great Location, CLOSE to the nature. Fantastic car drive to reach this place of course with some good driving skills. Relatively good breakfast served.

First of all, the hotel is located up in the mountain and I could only drive up to it 15 minutes before every hour till 10 minutes after every hour. In other words, I have only 25 minutes to drive to the hotel and 35 minutes down from it. There is a traffic control. This was NOT mentioned in the hotel introductions. Second, the road is very narrow and the narrowest part is only 2 meters wide and this was not mentioned in the hotel introductions. I wish I would know all these information before I booked it. Moreover, there is no toilet in the building where I sleep and I must walk 25 yards to another building to use the toilets even during the middle of a night and raining. Again, I wish that I would know this before I booked it.

The staff are friendly and working very hard. The place was packed during weekend and the staff worked very professionally and swiftly to fulfill everyone's demand.

1. Visitors of the staff were very noisy very late into the evening, thus causing no sleep..... 2. Were not served what we ordered. 3. As guests we were a side-show to friends of the staff 4. Blanket for the bed had a major tear in it.

Unique experience, felt like you were stepping back in time. Although only September the wood burning stoves were already needed and kept the place cosy. The whole valley is wonderful and brilliant for walking Carlos’s food was amazing and the Brazilian waitress was very friendly and helpful. We had the place to ourselves the first night and it felt very special. Much busier at the weekends but still good. We loved the fact there was so little there but the awesome mountains.

The way to the hotel is a one way road which gets super dodgy when its dark/raining. And you have to wait for certain times in each hour to go up/go down. Which can be inconvenient. One of the staffs there was super rude and impatient to us, and low-key racist. She got mad and lashed it out to us when there was a problem with the bill, clearly it wasn’t our fault. It was just miscommunication as the lady barely speaks any English. The other younger lady was kind and helpful. The food was awful for the price, I wouldn’t recommend to have dinner/lunch there as it really was a rip-off. Have it in the town of kandersteg. Probably the worst meal I’ve ever had.

The views were really pretty, nice by the stream. Rooms were clean though very cold for the season we went (September)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to check into Berghotel before their last time (6pm). They refused to check me in at 8pm even though I had already paid and were completely unwilling to help which left me stranded. When I explained that there was no alternative accommodation anywhere in the area they were rude and dismissive. It is not uncommon for hostels to check in guests later than the listed time or to leave out a keycard. Their lack of flexibility created a really unsafe situation for me as a solo female traveller. Luckily a kind local let me sleep in their house otherwise I would have had to sleep outside. No refund, advice or sympathy was offered for my situation. I hope they update their check in times so others do not experience this.

a) we were disappointed with the attitude of the reception lady who said she was the "manager". She was clueless about "guest card" which in every valley in Switzerland hotels issue to guests to enable discounted or free bus transport. When we informed her that all other places we have stayed have issued the guest card and why were they not doing the same she was on the verge of losing her temper and lacking respect in the way she addressed us as hotel guests, plus unwilling to inform herself of facilities that tourist offices offer to overseas visitors. b) The shower room shared by one other room was less than basic: black mold and dirt around the shower pan, c) soap dispenser that had been ripped off and discarded on the shower pan - very strange. d) exposed plumbing visible as shower valve plate was missing. e) flooded floor which I had to ask staff to clean up. This is unacceptable...........

Whilst the location was excellent as Selden is indeed a Unesco protected area our dismay was quite an anti-climax to our expectations. However, the owner/proprietor needs to find a way to run the hotel in a professional manner.

No Electric socket for charging? Reception lady was rude. They mention bunk beds and there was 20 metress on the floor in a big room. Once you booked this palce. They tell you next minute you have to pay 15 CHF road tax. Waste of money. Will not recommend it.

Natural beauty was the only good thing there.
