Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandStaff. No English at all, when eventually got someone on the phone that was speaking English was literally shouting to me. Cleanliness. Toilet was clean, but the room bad cleanliness, thick dust everywhere, also on beside bed lockers and drawers full of dirt, been never cleaned. Beds were literally shaking when i was moving from side to side while sleeping, afraid that will colaps with me (I'm 100 kg weight person), very week construction of the beds. Big dead bugs, dry on the carpet like everywhere around, wich shows there was a while since that carpet was hoovered. No choices of food or drinks at all around, the only thing was a vending machine in the rail station wich was nearly empty too. Had to take the train in the village to buy some food. All together, expensive too for what's offering.
Remote place, the train station few metres from hotel.

NetherlandsEasy self chack-in (no staff present), walking the Walliser Sonnenweg this is the only option in Ausserberg. We had very low expectations about breakfast, but although there wasn't any staff, we did enjoy it (and were even allowed to take lunch with us too). Free water included. The hotel is located at the train station (a quiet one), so we went to Brig for having dinner. Brig is easy to reach and a very nice place.. Given the concept as it is, you need to like the "no staff policy".

United StatesNowhere secure to put luggage before check-in time. No staff on hand. It would have been much better to have been allowed to enter the first door and leave luggage in the hall.
The bright blue shutters, the glorious view in the sunshine, the location, the simple comfortable rooms and beds.

United Statesit is located at the mountain and no elevator, yet our room is on the fourth floor. Parking is down the street. So you have to carry everything up. No real staff on site. the breakfast cost 15 F yet, really it was just a kitchen, you have to prepare by yourself!
we booked this hotel in last minute of the day, so feel lucky to get one.

United StatesThe shower is in the middle of the room so everyone could see you. Barely any staff. Location of hotel and check in was confusing. You have to check in by machine and the first time the machine errored when giving me my hotel keycard. The pillows were very thin. The electric kettle had limestone build up. No elevator.
Very close to train station and buses not too far from Brig and Visp. Nice views from hotel breakfast room and balcony. Lots of toilet paper. We had to book here last minute since Zermatt flooded and luckily it was available with late check in. Wifi was pretty fast.

Switzerlandour stay didn't look like the photos online. the house is old, so it was very very noisy if somebody moved around even in another part of the house. the shower in our room wasn't separated from the beds which was pretty inconvenient. the facilities were outdated. the walls are covered with dark wood which makes it all even worse. given the price, the breakfast was very underwhelming and disappointing. it isn't a place you would love to stay longer.
24h access to the breakfast bar. the view.

United StatesSeemed expensive for the quality of the rooms. It was a lovely location, and great basic, comfortable accomodations and meals, but prices were comparable to boutique hotels in cities. Also, none of the window boxes or planters had flowers or plants, so it was dreary.
Location was perfect for hiking
