Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaComfortable hotel for a short stay in Grindelwald. View out the window of mountains and a glacier was fantastic. Tasty breakfast and dinner available on site and there were gluten free options available. We used the free city bus to the bus stop right at the hotel door. There is no kettle in the room, however, there is access to a kettle and a microwave downstairs. Staff were friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe fact that bathrooms had to be shared even though I spent more than £700 for 5 nights. The same options for the breakfast every day.
The view and its accessibility with the public transport. Also that it has a parking space if we were to drive in that country.

AustraliaThe bathroom situation was a bit awkward because the guests from the restaurant upstairs used the same bathroom as us, but it wasn’t terrible. There wasn’t much to work with in terms of making your own dinner, only a microwave and kettle but it was ok.
The location was fairly good. I know a lot of people talked about it being up a big hill but that is only a problem when you’ve got huge amounts of luggage and the bus isn’t available, I didn’t have any issue with it. The staff were very friendly and were kind enough to give me my own private part of the room as I was a solo female traveller. The free breakfast was also pretty great.

This is more a hostel than a hotel. They have dorm rooms, private rooms with shared bathroom , and private rooms without a shared bathroom (but with a sink) - we stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The pillows are pretty thin, but we doubled over to bulk up. Shower and toilets are separate from each other and clean, but fairly tiny. Our room was fairly big and ours had a great view. (Just above the bar). The restauraunt is closed on Sunday & Monday's - not a big issue as only a few mins walk into the centre. However, note that there are no places to unwind in the hotel The room was clean and has two power sockets + 2 USB A sockets which was lucky, as our adaptor didn't fit into the main plugs. The room has a safe, but no fridge/TV - not that we were expecting them. Great location, free parking, about 5mins walk from Grindelwald First and 15-20min walk from the station. Just to note, if buying train tickets it's cheaper to buy online than in person/at ticket machines. Continental Breakfast served daily between 6.30-10 in the Summer. A mix of cereal, cheese, breads and meats served The hotel is dated with wooden walls/panels throughout, creaking walls and not so much insulation meaning you can hear people talking/walking around, but for the hotel has charm that suited the location and the price was the best in town. The stay was great for our needs.

AustraliaVery hot rooms with no fan. Bad WiFi, pretty much unusable.
Great location in center of Grindelwald for a great price! Great breakfast. Friendly staff in a family run business. Free parking for your car. Good hot showers, clean bathrooms. They give u a whole bunk bed to yourself so one level is for your luggage and spreading out your stuff and one is for sleeping which is amazing. Amazing cheese fondue in the restaurant. They also make all their own natural liquers which are delicious.

Hong KongIt's best to let travelers know there is no lift. The bathroom is way too warm and there is no ventilation. We have a group of 4 and unfortunately we cannot open our suitcase properly.
Excellent view and friendly staff. Mini breakfast buffet is expectedly good. Water pressure is good esp after a day of hiking a lovely shower is essential. Great location - just next to a bus stop and walking distance to First station.

MalaysiaNo lift in the building and it is long walk to uphill after 6:30pm because all buses stop operate after this hour. Besides, only 1 bus per hour. It is not the issue of the hotel because all the buses service around Grindelwald facing same issue.

United KingdomThe dorm rooms are a little cramped. Luckily it seemed like they don’t fully fill each room so you have a spare bed to put your bags on. So to be fair, for the price, the dorm rooms are okay. I would stay again if returning to Grindelwald.
The hotel has some of the best views in town. Only a short walk out of the main centre, its elevated position gives a wonderful view from the bar/restaurant. The breakfast was generous and a great setup for a day in the hills. Fruit, yoghurt, cereals, local cheese and meat, eggs, good fresh breads, jams and strong coffee. Perfect! You can use the roof terrace or basement kitchen to eat your own picnic if you do not want to eat in the restaurant. Food was as reasonable and of similar quality to down town grindewald, so with that view it’s defo worth eating at the hotel. They also have a well stocked bar with good beers. The hotel send you a discount card which gives you free local bus travel and discounts in places such as the brilliant sports centre.
