Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNow some very minor details just to be aware of but please do not let discourage from booking: there was some construction noise (early Sept.) practically all day one day into the evening from another property facing the rooms that was pretty distracting (seemed to be a theme in Rio/Ilha Grande so I just kind of got used to it), also looked like the Pousada is expanding for some additional rooms, may want to inquire if there’s still construction around before booking. The room/balcony are a bit smaller than pictured but perfectly adequate (and who spends that much time in the room anyways when on an island). The bathroom door is glass see-though and the shower water pressure was pretty low as expected for an island water system. Would have loved for the sheer window drapes to be on a separate rod from the blackout drapes, felt a bit on display or had to keep the blackout drapes closed especially in the corner room where the steps down to the beach for all rooms are right outside the window.
If you’re anyone like me and spend days researching the perfect place to stay when traveling, you’ve found it! Pousada Belas Aguas is without a doubt the nicest looking place to stay in Araçatiba and if the beachfront corner Bali suite is available I’d recommend picking that one! Lucas was amazing at providing suggestions, responding quickly to any requests, and helping book a boat tour for me during my weekend stay. Having the beach just a few steps away with beach chairs/umbrella/table always available (1 set per a room) was exactly what I was looking for in a relaxing island vacation. Lucas and family live below next door so you really feel like you’re staying with family friends when you visit and they’re always around when any assistance is needed. They even gave me a souvenir when I left! The beach was amazing and being partially blocked off from the rest of the Araçatiba beach by the big rock formation, it practically is a small private beach. There are also kayaks and snorkel gear available to use and right in front of the hotel was a great place to take a dip and see some fish in the rock formations. Breakfast on the beach every morning was an amazing way to start the day and watching the sunset right in front of the hotel (don’t get that in the more popular Abraao on the other side of the island) was the perfect way to end it! I heard Lucas switch between at least English, Spanish, Portuguese seamlessly when interacting with guests which I really appreciated given my lack of Portuguese. This was the first stay I booked when planning my month long South America trip and I wish I didn’t have to leave it! Thanks Pousada Belas Aguas (and Lucas!) for the incredible stay and I hope to come back sometime!

United Statesnothing: everything was great!
This charming pousada is perfectly located on a beautiful and quiet corner of Araçatiba beach, steps from restaurants and other attractions. The service is friendly and impeccable, from the delicious breakfast on the beach to the excellent dinners cooked by the owners themselves upon request. My husband and I spent a wonderful time there in June. We swam among the large sea turtles that often show up near the beach and appreciated the spectacular sunsets from the shore and the balcony of our room. We especially loved the numerous boat trips that we took with William all around Ilha Grande and the other isles nearby. Highly recommended to all who would like to enjoy Ilha Grande and Angra at their best.

United KingdomIt was maybe a bit unclear how/whether you could eat the restaurant in the evenings. Not a big deal though cause there are lots of nice places a stone's throw away!
Wow, what an amazing pousada. We were blown away above all by the incredible location which was absolutely idyllic: you can literally hear the waves crashing on the beach from your room!! The room was very well-appointed with a super comfy bed, mini fridge (important for beach side beers!) and a really nice shower. The fact that staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to organise a day out snorkeling and seeing nearby beaches was another huge plus. They even went as far as to give us a ride in their boat back to Angra dos Reis for a really reasonable price! 10/10 would recommend. P.s. Did I mention the beautiful sunset which you won't get from the other side of the island in busy Abraão? So romantic.

AustriaThe location is amazing if you are looking for a totally remote place, away from everything BUT it is kind of hard to get to and a little pricy - so consider that before and prepare your trip wisely and in advance (eg. the regular transports from rio de janeiro would bring you to another harbor) - text the hotel before for more info (would have been really helpful in advance)
It is a super exclusive place with a private beach, perfect for a quiet, relaxing get-away, staff is super nice and breakfast on the beach was amazing, everything is very new, clean and comfortable

United KingdomLucas & Leticia the owners really look after you. As it’s a small family business you get the extra touch of service which is nice. Location is great as it’s in its own part of the beach and you get to see the sunsets. Good location to connection from tours around the islands and back to the mainland via boat. Very quiet and safe place. Quite a few restaurants to choose from and a couple of small convenience stores selling basic items. Very clean and great breakfast!

I can’t recommend this place enough. We were there for a few nights and fell in love immediately with the family who run it and the location itself. Heaven on earth and not exaggerating. It’s a dream location. The room had a beautiful water view and is finished to a high standard with a comfy bed. Gabriel is warm and welcoming. The breakfast is great. You can swim off the shore and we were lucky enough to see two turtles amongst beautiful fish. The kayaking and snorkeling is great too.

Beautiful room and views! Couldn’t believe how clean it was considering the Pousada is right on the beach. Lovely breakfast that you can place your order for the night before and they will either bring it to you room or set it up on the beach for you. Gabriel and his family were all so lovely and helpful, there was a bit of a language barrier but they organised a brilliant boat trip around the island which I’d highly recommend doing

United StatesNothing - loved it all!!
The most amazing pousada in Aracatiba that deserves 1000 stars! The hosts provided the most unforgettable experience from the moment we set foot on the island. Gabriel surprised us by meeting us at the pier to transport us and our luggage by boat to the pousada, and he even carried our 50 lb suitcases all the way upstairs. We started each morning with the most delicious homemade breakfast on the beach. The location is perfect, close to hiking trails, convenience stores, and restaurants. Gabriel took us on a snorkel tour of several nearby islands/beaches, and there are also kayaks/snorkels you can use to explore the island on your own - we swam with sea turtles right in front of the pousada! We couldn’t believe how clean and spotless the room was, especially considering that it was located directly on a sandy beach. Lastly, even though the hosts and staff did not speak our language, they were incredibly warm, patient, and went above & beyond to communicate and connect with us on a personal level. We didn’t want to leave and are counting down the days until we can return!

SwitzerlandOnly comment to note, not about the hotel but the Araçatiba region: beware that this is a remote region where it's hard to reach other towns in Ilha Grande. We wanted to do scuba diving and realised that there's no operator in Araçatiba and it was very hard to get to the other part of the island to find a diving school.
- Great location, by the beach close by to restaurants, bars and mini-markets in Araçatiba. - Attention to details, beautiful room, sparkling clean. They also offer kayaks and snorkels to discover the island.
