Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWent to have a shower before checking out (only stayed for one night) and there was no hot water. Tried rotating the shower mixer tap both ways in case the cold feed and hot feed were plumbed the wrong way round (a lot are!) but it still just ran cold. Tried the mixer tap over the wash basin as well and still no hot water. This was the only major thing I could mark Scotty's Boutique Hotel down on, but from reading others' reviews it seems to be a common theme, and I'm afraid it's enough that it would put me off staying there again. The view from the balcony also wasn't up to much. The listing does say that it's an inner-courtyard view, but there's an overgrown tree which was virtually encroaching onto the balcony; could do with cutting back really. A fridge would have been a good addition to the room as well. There's one shown in some of the photos of the room and it says that there is a minibar, but there was definitely no fridge in my room.
The location is excellent; six minutes' walk from Serdika metro station and three minutes' walk from a big Billa supermarket. The gentleman that checked me in and out was brilliant. He spoke excellent English and was very friendly and funny. The air conditioning in the bedroom was excellent and the bed was very comfortable, if a little low to the floor. I disagree with previous reviewers, Greg and Paul, I like a soft mattress and I like a wet room!

NetherlandsEverything what people before me saying is true. Everything is old, beds are basically on the floor. If you are for 1 night is passable.
Great location, good WiFi. Working fridge (although dirty)

BulgariaThe walls, esp. the door, were very thin and the whole morning we could hear people outside our door probably cleaning the other rooms, so audible as if they were in the room with us. The mattress of the supposed double bed was two mattresses, which would've been fine if they didn't slide away from each other and make a hole into which we slid sometimes. Many things were imperfect in the room - the air conditioner worked but was kind of busted, overall there were many details that made the room look run down and needed TLC. The bathroom was also very small.
The location was great. The staff was nice to us. Because we were on the upper floor there wasn't much noise from outside.

SerbiaComment - staff are obviously GPS slaves. Because I arrived late at night, in the morning wanted to confirm my way back to the Metro. The description to turn right, turn lert and walk....... Well, my instinct was to turn left agaain, and I recognized building from the night before, and Metro was Close. As an old high tech sales type I am not obsessed by GPS, for instance, I bet I Know the neighbourhood Better than they do, With nomap. Not a criticism, but a Sasd observaton on a younger generation Trusting say Google Maps. When still working as a Real Esatate broker I saw Google Cannot be trusted.
Close enough to the Metro

BulgariaNot the tidiest of accommodation, looks a bit run down, if that was the deluxe room, then I would not want to stay in the basic ones.

SpainThe bathroom not very practical; especially the shower was not very good, there was a tiny hole for the water to run and long, long curtain which would not protect against floods when taking a shower, so I just didn´t do it.
The location was really good, very near Sofia´s main sights and easy to find the bus station. I liked my single room quite comfortable.

BelgiumRoom was marketed as deluxe but there were quite a few faults: bathroom door could not lock, tile missing from bathroom ceiling, beds were very low and uncomfortable, tv was not working. Also there were a lot of stairs (not very baby friendly if travelling with babies)
Very central location, the view from the balcony was very nice. The price was good.

United KingdomI have stayed there last year I had a better room. This year I got the Sofia room I'm so sorry but was terrible. From under the bed they were falling the woods and then the pillow was sofa pillow inside in pillow case. The towels had a weird smell and the curtain was broken so neighbours they were able to see inside in the room. Plus someone that stayed there before put a gum to stick the curtain on the wall so looks dirty and disgusting.
The location was great close to the main attractions of Sofia and to some 24h shops
