Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA shame the bar and restaurant was not available.
This quirky comtemporary hotel is in a great riverside location. Parking was a bit tight but fine. There are steep stairs from the top car park to the hotel, through a lovely new garden. Our rooms had river views across the road. Bed was very comfortable and the shower was really good. Only a short walk to restaurant and bars.

GermanyI feel like the hotel is overrated. Firstly €125 for a wellness treat is wild to me, especially if it’s only for an hour just to use a jacuzzi & a sauna.

Belgiumbreakfast is not like other 4 star hotels. So in comparison with others, it’s quite expensive.
There is a parking lot in front of the hotel free of charge. Toilets in rooms are separated. And no carpets which is good for people with allergies.

NetherlandsI did not really mind, but the bathroom needed a bit of TLC. Actually the bathroom could do with a better solution to hang towels.
The Royal Snail is a comfortable hotel just at the edge of town. The room I had was relatively small but spacious enough. Coffee and tea were provided. Breakfast was simple but nice.

United KingdomBedroom and bathroom we're a bit on the small size, but it didn't affect our enjoyment.
Comfortable bed, and exceptionally good breakfast. The bar stayed open late into the night, and staff were always available. Free parking outside the hotel. Scenic view across the river. Close to the city centre and local attractions.

Belgium"Swimming" pool is not suitable for swimming. More like an indoor aquarium. 2 times woken up (very) early in the morning by a tourist guide (by phone and by knocking on door) My room was obviously not part of his group or tour. Receptionist just *shrugged*
Friendly staff ( in the bar - breakfast area)

United KingdomThe pool was a disappointment, it is really more of a large bathtub than an actual pool. The rooms were small and tight. Our "pool-side" room was on the fourth floor which I think really should quality as a "view" of the pool, not truly qualifying as "pool-side". The glass windows into the shower area with no blind or way to obtain some privacy is something that should be re-thought.
Namur is a stunning place the this property is well-located with great access to the sea wall for walks or cycling. The views overlooking the river are stunning. The hotel is quite stylish and very clean.

United KingdomI was really looking forward to visiting the Royal Snail, the reviews were positive and photos looked great. So what could go wrong? We arrived to find the front of the Hotel was in a row of buildings and resembled a smart office, not a hotel. Once inside the reception was quite stark and again felt like you were in a law firm not a hotel. We were allocated room 608 on the top floor, the lift took us to a dark gloomy corridor which led to a further flight of stairs to our room. The room itself was a decent size and furnished in a very contemporary style which I haven’t got a problem with. But it was dark, very dark. So dark I couldn’t see what was in the wardrobe even with all the lights on. The bathroom had a small single sink which looked nice but wasn’t practical. You couldn’t use the plug and the surface around the sink was water damaged and too small for personal toiletries for a couple. The shower was large but its floor was extremely slippery. So all in all not a great experience. We were pleasantly surprised to have a balcony which overlooked the rear of the hotel. We could see the small swimming pool by a terrace. However the pool had no water and certainly was not an area to swim in. The chair and table appeared a nice place to have a drink, but the rattan chair was covered in moss and you would have stained your clothing if you sat in it. In summary this hotel is fine if you like dark rooms and corridors. That has stylish looking fixtures that don’t actually do the jobs that they are designed to do. The staff were pleasant enough and the bed was comfortable. But we just didn’t feel as excited about this stay as I had hoped for, it was a bit underwhelming.
Didn’t have breakfast as it was too expensive for a continental breakfast.

United KingdomWe recommend using Google maps to find the hotel, as our GPS kept sending us onto the top of the hill - bit of a nightmare up a cobbled, switch-back road on a fully loaded motorbike! At least we saw the Citadel!
The location was great, right on the river, not too noisy, close enough to walk into town. The hotel was lovely. Very smart. Quite trendy. The food was out of this world. An absolute must. We only stayed one night, on our way back to the UK, it was fabulous. The staff were very helpful, even giving us inside, secure parking for our motorbike. The communication before we arrived was very quick - we booked last minute. The bed was super comfy. It was a large room. We even had a coffee machine in the room. Very nice all round.
