Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe stairs are windy and getting a big suitcase upstairs was difficult.
Impressed by the cleanliness of the flat; comfy beds; folder with helpful info on where to find supermarket, places to eat - all really very helpful for first time visitors to Gent. Great location - proximity to attractions and the tram. Excellent communication with friendly host, I couldn't ask for more. All in all a pleasant stay. I would rate it 10 out of 10 but for the stairs. It gets 9.5/10.

IrelandSteep stairs would be an issue for people with reduced mobility or buggies etc.
Excellent city centre location - easy to get to from the train station. Simple access with door code. Spotlessly clean and visually appealing - bright and airy. Good contact from host. Was perfect for 4 people and I would stay in this premises again. Also Ghent Castle is a must see.

AustraliaIt’s not a dislike but more a “heads up” - there are quite a few stairs and no microwave
The design was fabulous and beautifully decorated. The location was perfect. It was great to have a coded door rather than a key.

United KingdomThe stairs up to the apartment were a bit steep but we soon got used to them. Larger bath towels would have been good. The switch for one of the bedside lights was too far over so had to get out of bed to switch it on and off - not a major thing, just a little bit inconvenient. Couldn't find the toaster despite it being listed in the facilities.
The central location - within easy access of all the major attractions. The lovely big open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. The bottle of wine was very much appreciated.

United KingdomThe carpet/rug/mat was dangerous as was the shower tray. It was treacherously slippery. My friend cut his foot as a result of slipping on it.
The flat is beautiful and well equipped. It is also handily situated in a lively part of Ghent.

AustraliaThe stairs are a bit steep with suitcases, however we are finding this to be common in Europe. A washing machine would of been a great bonus.
We had a fantastic stay in For Four Flat, we really did feel right at home. The apartment is clean, well located and tastefully decorated. We found the list of local recommendations very helpful and the hosts easy to communicate with. We look forward to staying again in the future.

IndiaThe staircase could have been wider as carrying your bags up and down two floors can be a challenge.
The property location is extremely central and is well connected to all areas. There is a convenience store close by, bus and tram station is also in close proximity and so are restaurants and cafés. If this is not enough, you are right in the middle of the Fashion Street of Ghent and will get spoilt for the choice of clothes.

My daughter and I stayed at For Four Flat in Ghent this spring which served as a perfect base to explore Ghent by foot and Belgium's cities by public transportation. The apartment is spacious and convenient, with a fully-functional kitchen and was a few minutes’ walk from historic sites, our favorite shops, restaurants and most importantly, the No. 2 De Lijn tram stop. From our centrally located apartment in Ghent's beautiful historic district, we could take the tram to Ghent's Sint-Pieters train station and explore Bruges, Leuven, and other cities with ease. Our host, Carine, was very gracious and accommodating and gave us easy check-in instructions plus a welcome gift of wine. She also shared crucial information about the tram system before we left LA which ultimately saved us from missing our departure flight in Brussels. Ghent is a charming, pedestrian-friendly city with many exceptional points of interest and wonderful chocolate shops to choose from. If you plan on visiting Ghent, you must stay at the best place in town: For Four Flat! Millie Los Angeles, CA

United KingdomUpstairs neighbours need to be mindful of noise after 10pm.
Just returned from a perfect week in this exceptional accommodation. Immaculately clean, the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in with very high quality bedding. Location was perfect for us, right in the middle of everything. We parked in Kouter on arrival (€20 for 24hrs) then moved our car to Arsenale a short tram ride away (which was free) we then moved car back to Kouter on our final day as it's only 2 mins away. Supermarkets literally on the doorstep. Carine was a fabulous host, left us a lovely bottle of wine and checked in with us to check we were OK. The photos don't do this apartment enough justice, it's much more spacious than we expected from the photos. We're really missing this place and will definitely return and recommend to our friends and family. Ghent is such a beautiful city and we feel very lucky to have called this home for the duration of our stay. Can't wait to return. Ghent is magical!
