Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFound out on the way back home that I had been covered in mosquito bites as the hotel has a very nice and picturesque water fountain in the court yard which attracted a lot of mosquitoes and as we sleep with the windows open we both have been bitten a lot, this can be fixed by adding mosquito nets to the windows or the plug in mosquito deterrents inside the rooms or even a word of warning to the guests. For a 4 star accommodation the rooms themselves are more 3 star also surprised that the bedding was not changed on a daily basis.
We liked the city centre location, the staff are very informative and friendly we also liked the breakfast and the option for extras in your room

United KingdomAlthough dogs were allowed in the hotel and room they were not allowed in the bar which was a shame (or in the breakfast room which is understandable) so we had to carry trays to an outside area which was not set up for breakfast (or pay extra for room service). Reception staff were not particularly friendly.
Good location, pleasant room and lovely large bathroom.

United KingdomOn-site parking too expensive - but we pre-booked parking close to the railway station, which was less than 6 euro a day with a free bus to the Centre of Bruges and close to the Hotel.
The room had fantastic decor with an amazing vast bathroom! Good location.

United KingdomThe decor of our room felt drab (dull green on dull green) and not very bright light bulbs. The shower was rubbish (shame it didn't come off the same high pressure system as the bath)
Loved the location, and especially the public rooms and courtyard gardens, with their glass covered ways and the glass lift. It all had a very Bruges vibe and didn't feel at all like a hotel you might find anywhere. Breakfasts very enjoyable too.

United StatesInsects in the bathroom. Dated room could use some renovation.
Pretty architecture, nice garden with fountain and neon light outside. Room was a little small, and some ants in our room. Nice bathtub but there were some bugs in it. Bed was comfortable. Best part is the location. Centrally located to historical sites, parking garage was within walkable distance. Breakfast was 20 euros per person.

Location is perfect...everything you need including the park , car park and a rare supermarket close by...3. min walk. The main historic centre is just 10-15 min walk- far enough to give you quiet evening/ nights. And great reception staff. Lovely . And a really good bed

United KingdomThere is no dedicated hotel parking and the public car park is a few 100 metres from the hotel which is difficult with suitcases
The hotel has charm and is ideally situated close to the centre of Bruges for exploring what the city has to offer. The reception staff were very helpful with checking in and provided useful information to enable us to make the most of our stay in Bruges.

NetherlandsAll was good, but be careful with the shower. The glass panel doesn't close well, so the bathroom is flooded in instants if you do not pay close attention.
Lovely one-night stay in Bruges on a quiet street, but in walking-distance to great restaurants. Especially enjoyed the breakfast. Unfortunately it rained during our stay, but the outside terrace looked gorgeous.

NetherlandsThe doors to the rooms were incredibly thin and there was a gap between the door and the ground, the walls are also quite thin. Because of this you can hear everything outside; you can hear people's conversations and understand what they're saying. Even talking quietly, can be hear from outside the rooms. The sound of people walking up and down the stairs is also quite loud. Then again, this is an old property and has historical value so it's understandable why - but this could perhaps be improved for better comfort of the guests since it is a 4 star hotel. Overall the experience was incredible and it was a really beautiful hotel, the rooms were very comfortable and luxurious too!
The hotel was gorgeous; a very beautifully kept old mansion, it's very charming and feels very luxurious. The staff was very kind. We also arrived well before the check-in time and we were able to drop off our lugage befor roaming around the city. The location is superb; away from the crowd but a 5 minute walk to the centre!

An old building, decorative furniture, and true firewood give a nice atmosphere to this property, aligned well with the town itself. At the same time, everything functional is quite new and well-maintained.
