The only downfall was our bed. Our mattress was extremely uncomfortable. I should have reported it so we could move to another room.

Possibly due to the wooden floor, sometime will hear a little of the walking sound from the guest above

The hotel car park is under ground and accessed from the rear of the property. Driving in Bruges with its one way streets and traffic restrictions can be a challenge and it is unfortunate that access to the Hotel from the car park is up a set of narrow and black steps which these older guests found difficult. There is a service lift staff use for luggage, but guests must tackle the stairs or head back into Bruges' mesh of one way streets.

Our room was very comfortable with an excellent shower. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were all welcoming and went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel is in an excellent position close to the main square and the main sights.

A very small criticism. Didn’t like the wired hairdryer in the bathroom. Not powerful enough for a lady with long hair, it kept cutting out. However an alternative was provided which was much better.

Duke’s Palace was very well located. All the staff were friendly and professional. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. There was every food option available for breakfast. Great hotel bar!

A very nice stay in the Dukes' Palace

How often do you get the chance to live in a palace? This was the palace where Charles the Bold and his daughter Mary of Burgundy lived (and indeed where she passed). The hotel is beautiful and is nicely located in Bruges, close to everything but not in the middle of it all. That is to say, you get the best of both worlds. Our room had a city view with big windows, allowing you to see the entire Bruges skyline, listen to the bells, and see one of the golden statues of the Duke’s Palace that adorn the roofline. The bathroom was spacious and had a separate bathtub and shower cabin. There was a window from the bathroom into the main room, which was nice. Breakfast had many options, including a station where you could carve your own Belgium chocolate (dark, milk, and white) with a two-handled knife! There were lots of fresh fruit options, waffles, and even sparkling wine. Many standard breakfast foods were available in the buffet, but omelets and lactose-free coffee options are available when you ask. The back room of the dining area is a little dark and not as nice as the front part, which has a wall of windows which allows you to see the palace while you eat. A coffeemaker is in the room, and we asked for a tea kettle and bottle opener from the front desk. There is a nice souvenir store just around the corner that stays open later than the other stores and sells a good variety of Belgium beers (and other things). We enjoyed staying in the Palace and it added to the experience of being in historic Bruges.
