Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNote that parking is offsite and at an additional cost. If you don't need a car, don't drive.
The hotel is located on a canal in a beautiful part of town, close to must-see sights and shopping. The dinning area is gorgeous with views of the canal. The food was excellent with breakfast included.

Location is great, loved being on the canal which we could see from the bedroom window. Breakfast was really good.

EstoniaWe had the cheapest room overlooking the channel. So the window is quite funny, at the ceiling is the trim with stairs to stay at to watch outside)
The location. It's like staying inside the Eiffel tower when traveling to Paris) the heart and soul of the great Brugge, I do not think you can imagine the better location to stay at. The crowded square in front of the hotel, but the windows overlooking the channel, which is absolutely peaceful and quite. Though with the boats passing by.

My husband rated this hotel as 'Booking. WOW!' The hotel is more expensive than we normally would book but the location in historic Brugge in an historic building right on a canal with views of other historic buildings, swans floating by, church bells ringing in the distance and more was well and truly worth it. Continental breakfasts were plentiful and tasty. The hotel is walking distance to the main tourist attractions as well as many cafes and restaurants. The hotel restaurant also offers evening meals. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

United KingdomNothing bad at all but just a few things to note for other visitors. As I said, it is a little tired and probably needs to be modernised but I like the old fashioned nature of the hotel and I found it very comfortable, welcoming and clean. My room was small but that was a purposeful choice on my budget and it was very adequate for a night. The bathroom was of a good size. There was no overhead shower in the small canal view double room- it's a bath with a shower attachment. No air conditioning. I went in October so not a problem but something to note if you did go when it was warmer. Not a problem for me but all rooms have to be accessed by stairs. The hotel also has a popular restaurant downstairs- the entrance to hotel is through the outside part of the restaurant which is a little awkward but not a big issue.
This is a lovely hotel right in the centre of Bruges and you can see it in probably the most famous view across the canal in the centre. In terms of location you couldn't really get any better really! It has an old fashioned, slightly tired charm (if you like that sort of thing of course). It was very comfortable for me and I slept very well. Nice hot water, good towels and free toiletries. Breakfast is always included and was great. A wide selection of food always topped up and whatever hot drink you liked. Lovely views in the morning across the canal and you can hear the famous bells- transports you back to another time! Very lovely and welcoming staff. Check in is at 3 but I dropped my bag off early in the morning and they said that rooms are generally ready by 1.30, which was great for me. Bruges is expensive but this hotel makes it doable to stay in the centre for a night or 2. Overall my stay was great and I would definitely go back!

Costa RicaIn the breakfast it will be good to add more variety. Including scramble eggs. They only provided boiled eggs which still works but I prefer scrambled eggs. Also, the wifi signal in the second floor was deficient. The room itself was clean but the bathtub didn’t have a shower head structure you had to grab the hose over yourself to be able to take a shower. Very uncomfortable and easy to make a mess.
Great location very close to the bus station and restaurants.

CanadaThe only issue I had was for such a lovely establishment was my experience with the wait staff.
The Hotel's location is one of perfection. The views nothing less than perfection. Being greeted by swans swimming by on mirror like water against the historical architecture takes you back to Mediavel times. My room was Exceptional for its stateliness, spacious and we'll appointed furnishings. One staff member who outshone them all, was Kiki!! She was most friendly and efficient at her job, made my stay all the more pleasurable! All the staff worked hard. I had a delicious meal one night in their dining room but went elsewhere after that for the lack of service.

We loved our two night stay at Hotel Duc De Bourgogne. It is an Old hotel with a lot of history and character. Gorgeous view of one of the most photographed corners of Brugge. Convenient walking distance to |restaurants, cafes and old town sites. Large airy room with large windows so lot of natural light very comfortable bed and clean and modern bath.
