Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe only thing I would of loved is having a nice portable Bluetooth speaker so you can listen to music. When travelling from the mainland you have to consider weights.
Pear Cottage delivered all the little things that make your stay special. I'm happy to pay this.

SingaporePort Arthur is really a small town. We dined at the popular Motor Inn restaurant, but on hindsight, should have used our well stocked kitchen to prepare our own meal.
Property is located about 10min drive from the more commercialised (and less scenic) part of Port Arthur. At night, there is no light pollution and we were fortunate to even do a spot of night time photography and caught the milky way on camera. We were accompanied by the free-ranging and curious padymelons -- we couldn't see them after dark, but could hear them hopping around. Hosts live on the same farm land, so were able to welcome us immediately when we arrived. The cottage is super spacious and can accommodate 6-7 people comfortably. It has all the modern amenities that one might need, leaving us very comfortable. Kitchen is fully equipped, so we also managed to cook a dinner on a night we returned home late after our Cape Raoul hike. Car park to the Cape Raoul trailhead is about 7 min drive. Other attractions in Port Arthur are within a 15-30min ride. Thank you to Lyn and Gavin for your kind hospitality and your suggestions for our Port Arthur itinerary.

AustraliaIf you don’t like country roads, getting here might be a problem. But we loved everything about the property and the IGA ten minutes away had everything you could need.
Everything! Gorgeous location for a retreat, with lovely views of the surrounding landscape. Very comfortable for four guests, and we loved the kitchen which had everything you needed in terms of equipment and essentials (like oil, salt, milk) to cook a great meal. The standouts for us were the balcony for morning tea, and the gorgeous bathroom with heated floors and a stand-alone bathtub - perfection!

AustraliaLeaving!
The Pear Cottage was a beautiful little hidden gem. Gavin and Lyn had thought of every detail to make our stay enjoyable, comfortable and relaxing. The beds were the most comfortable that any of our group of 4 had experienced. The Cottage was well equipped with all that we needed for our stay. The firewood was more than enough for our stay and we loved the ambiance of the wood heater. The Cottage was spotlessly clean with a very warm and welcoming feel. The heated bathroom floor was an added bonus.

AustraliaThe location was perfect. Pure tranquillity, peaceful, off the beaten track. Set in luxurious bush lands, on a hill with only the bird's occasional calls to break the stillness. The bed was perfect. A huge, warm and comfortable bed, enveloped me at night. The house was perfect. The kitchen was very well equipped with high end appliances. the bathroom was cosy with under floor heating and spacious. Loved the bath. The outdoor space was perfect. Near the main house but not in view with a spacious outdoor setting and comfy chairs overlooking a valley of trees. No sounds of cars or other people.

The Pear Cottage is the perfect home away from home. Not only is the cottage spotlessly clean, but, it’s very comfortable with much thought put into what guests need and enjoy. The hosts, Gavin and Lyn are lovely people who take much pride in their property and providing the perfect getaway. The cottage is only 10 minutes from Port Arthur and other attractions are close by. There’s two small supermarkets only five minutes drive away, which is very convenient.
